A good idea would be a yearbook where every member is listed and photographed. You can then put a name to a face and know a little about them. Plus lets have prizes for most ticas done in a year, most trips to CR, etc. This would be a great item and I'm sure the Columbianos would buy a few of these to remember us and make notes for the fresh meat coming every year.

Oh yeah. I'm sure that there'd be lots of esposa's that would love to get hold of THAT yearbook! Plus, I don't want any COLOMBIANO'S remembering me! I've got all I can handle with the COLOMBIANA'S!

No thanks!

How about something simple - like a blue rubberband on the right wrist.

If you want to crow a little bit you could even put a black stripe for each Tica.

I have met Prolijo over Labor Day, I think. He is in fact real.

I have never met either but I know people who have met Projilo. The question about Zippy has been raised for years and I remember someone (I think it was Ruffnutz but not sure) posted about a year ago he had met Zippy.

Projilo seems to be an infrequent visitor and Zippy prefers a low profile. However I believe they both exist and have visited CR. I live in San Jose but have not met that many members as I am infrequently in the gulch but I do exist

Every time I travel to CR, I have intentions/hopes of meeting CRT brothers and actually putting a face to a name/sig. I have met very few CRT guys over my trips...

I remember clearly my first trip to CR after becoming a VIP member, and walking into the DR/BM at 5:00 PM on a Saturday. I sat at a table, close to the windows as is often described here. I looked around and wondered if any of the guys at other tables were CRT brothers.

For me, it felt awkward walking up to strangers and asking; “any of you guys CRT brothers?” The times I did, I received puzzled looks from the strangers. I wondered if I should try a different approach and inquire more specifically such as; “anyone here members of the internet forum/bulletin board Costa Rica Ticas, the #1 source of information on Costa Rica!? A Gentlemen’s Guide to Costa Rica!” But, alas, to me it always felt very awkward approaching strangers, especially at a the BM where most guys are or appear to be on the hunt for girls and not some guy coming inquiring about if they do or do not frequent an internet site.

I remember walking into the SL in 2005 during the NFL playoffs on a Sunday afternoon. They even had a banner saying “Welcome CRT’ers “or something like that. The guys I did approach at the bar said; I’ve heard of CRT, but no, I’ve never seen the site.” I did meet Bill once, who was a helluva nice guy.

I was in CR last month and ran solo for a couple of days as my fishing buddies returned home on a Sunday and I decided to stay and roam the gulch on my own. I again walked into the SL while the NFL playoffs were on and the place was packed with Gringos. I knew there had to be many CRT members there, but I couldn’t even find a spot at the bar to eat lunch. It appeared that all eyes were on the TV’s and again, to me it felt awkward approaching strangers. So I headed to the BM where I sat at the bar and watched the game. Hell, I even wondered if RollTide was in the bar.

I’ve been to ZB and did meet some guys that were registered on CRT but said that they have never posted. Good guys none the less. Oh, but I did meet Eddie and in fact, we traded cigars and he gave me good advice on a chica.

I seem to strike up conversations with the guys that appear to be on fishing trips. You know the look; sunburned face, fishing shirt on, that type. The strangers I have met, to a man, all seem to be good guys.

But I have to admit; I am curious and felt it would be interesting to meet face to face the frequent posters here on CRT. You know, the guys that post frequently and it almost seems as if you actually know them. Guys such as Vegas Bob, Mucho Gusto, Orange, Get Rhythm, PacoLoco, Ruffnutz, Florida, Zippy, LatinHeat69, Dapanz1, El Ciego, Bilko, Prolijo, BKtuna, Irish Drifter, RBC 100, Muffdiver, Witling, and Thirdworld (in Jaco) just to name a few.

I guess I need to plan a trip during the Super Bowl, or CRT anniversary or some other organized event.

I did think of proposing that there be signal to identify CRT guys such as; touch your nose, as they did in the movie, The Sting. But, I realized, who wants to shake hands with a guy after he just touched his nose?

But, I do need to say that I personally, have benefited greatly from my CRT membership and am indebted for the advice given on where to go in CR, but maybe the best advice I’ve received is where NOT to go.

Pura Vida

Have you checked the "CRT VIP members with or without ladies" picture section? You'll see some of the guys there, even Circus without the beard!

Yes, one guy I forgot to list:
Circus. Kind of looks like someone who should be selling fruit on an on-ramp in Florida.

Prolijo is a freind and definitley exists as I have met him personally. Probably one of the most knowledgable people on this site about CR. These days he in in CR less frequently as he spends a lot of time in outher venues like many of the veteran posters here including myself. I have met most of outhers mentioned but don't think I have met Zippy or didn't know if I did.rbc100

Ditto on Prolijo - a stand up guy and not at all long winded when ya talk with him :)

You know there is a CRT logo shop http://shop.1asecure.com/index.cfm?Stid=4451&Deptno=4 Looks a little smaller than I remember...I actually am a proud owner of a couple shirts and a coffee mug with the 'girl in the bikini' logo. Some day I'm going to make a bundle on Ebay.

Years ago I remembered an idea from Circus from the waay old boards and had a couple polo's embroidered with "CRT Forum" and my handle. I walked into the Blue Marlin the first night with my new shirt and this great guy comes up to me and says "come sit with us". The Honorable Dallasman himself. Like the other guy said the rest is history. I can relate to the difficulty to connect with the brothers, which is why I got the shirts for the second tour. For me a good investment for a newbie looking to hook up.

Now I don't really even worry about it. It doesn't cost anything to ask, oftentimes starts a conversation and I can claim a few recuits that didn't know about the brotherhood but are now members. Ya me too I'm amazed at the positive response and some of the handles I've never seen - but "I don't post". Not that I do alot, but I've been around a while.

Actually the arm band thing ( think livestrong style ) wouldnt be an overly bad idea. Their cheap to make/sell, and easily stand out.

Plus we'd still be semi in style!

I don't bother anymore at the HDR, I just go and observe,
If CRT came up I did talk about the membership advantages.
Remember there are many non members at " The Ray " on any given night.
I never did seem to find any CRT happy hour at the HDR ,
all though I did run into a few classic CRT, VB, Don Gordo , and a couple others during my travels.

other venues.

Bar Idem: 40-50 %

SL 50% or more.

ZB : 40- 50%

A few good times come to memory at each location.

I ran into a bunch of CRT'ers right off the bat on my first trip in May, but only because I took advantage of the roll call. I'm glad I did, because that night I met a core group of guys who I have run into again: Ashford Jackson (who became my wingman on my next trip in August), JDit53, Kerosene flats, GetRhythm,XMan, UDubfan, and others. That night, the group of us headed to Kamur and Pantera Rosa, and friendships were made, along with introductions to other board members. Had I not had that encounter, it might have been more difficult to meet the guys on the board. I had, like OFT, several occasions when I was met with blank stares after asking if they were CRT'ers. I must say, however, that I met and enjoyed the company of many guys in ZB, SL, BM, etc, who were not CRTers.
My second trip started off with a birthday party for Don Gordo, which was attended by many a CRT luminaries. I met a bunch of CRT old timers, including El Lamero, in his final trip. The CRT anniversary party was a mecca for CRTers.
This time, I took advantage of GR's clubtour, which although I cut short, gave me a chance to meet more goodfellas. Although Costa Rica has its rewards with or without CRT, it can occasionally be a lonely place as well. It is less so if you are able to nurture a few friendships. To hear Muffy greet me with "Ciaociao!" across a noisy crowded room made the SL seem more like Cheers.

Happy Hour at the DR has started to pick up lately. The members seem to be split up at the DR and the SL at that time. However we normally meet at the tables on the side of the lobby bar instead of the Monkey Bar side. (It's quieter and less smokey there) The meeting time is still 5-5:30pm most days. Often times guys will send me a PM before arriving and we make arrangements to meet for a drink and they get to meet some other characters.

To MG, what you do AFTER you have had a thousand chicas...... you look for number 1001. It's certainly more fun than talking about the first thousand. (or worse yet, listening to other guys tell about their last chica)

As far as a method of recognizing other CRT'ers is concerned,I think we should use something that everyone has in common. How about a CRT engraved "cockring". It would certainly make the introductions more appropriate for all you degeneates. (skaking hands would take on a whole new meaning)
