As I mentioned in a previous thread a few weeks back, I finally got around to purchasing an IPOD recently (30GB version), along with the JBL "On-stage" combo speaker/docking station, and I'm stoked. I used to lug a carrying case full of CD's, a CD player and wall adaptor, and two clunky portable speakers with yet another adaptor with me on each trip, and now all that is history. Incredible sound quality, compactness and convenience - the JBL system even comes with an infrared remote that lets you switch songs and manipulate the volume from all the way across the room.

The IPOD is loaded up with all the crucial stuff - the Magic CD (in regular redbook audio format instead of MP3s - which I detest), my La Bomba Latina dance comp, Pimsleur Volume 3, and a shitload of awesome CDs and vinyl conversions from my collection. Also loaded in are all my favorite photos of favoritas past and present.

The whole setup is so compact and easy to transport that I may even bring it into ZB with me to finally have some decent music to session to in there. Setting it up is not a bad way to kill time while you're waiting for the girl(s) to return after they take your dinero anyways.

what would be a general price range for this setup, assuming regular prices and nothing on sale?

I originally paid around $400 total at Best Buy ($250 for the IPOD, $150 for the JBLs) but you can probably do a little better than that on Ebay or Amazon.com.

So, you finally made the leap to modern technology?

I, personally, miss the "woooohh.... que rico... que bueno" comments when chicas entered your boogie-nights-styled quarters at the SL. I always thought the chicas digged your 8-track player, oversized plastic speakers, black lights, rusty roller skates and red porno-style shag carpeting you layed out in your room.

Granted... none of the chicas you bang are old enough to understand the nastalgia by about 20 years. Still, it made you stick out as a vintage era porno star.

The times are changing... 8) :P

JBL On Tour Music Box...$59
The same item in best Buy is "on sale " at $104.

Don't mention it DG - glad to assist.

Now - if anyone happens to find a nice 30GB blackface IPOD with a bunch of MY pictures on it lying around down there somewhere, I'd sure love to hear about it. I believe there is even a reward of $100 being offered at this time for its return, courtesy of Bill at Sportsmen's.

Funny how quickly you become totally dependent on the damn things....
