While sitting on the balcony of the NEW YORK BAR this evening, a gringo who lives here half the year, gave me a nice tip on phone service. He told me that on the 2nd floor of the modern shopping PLAZA, across the street from the NEW YORK BAR, there is an enclosed office space with a bank of five phone booths. The one phone booth has a sign on it that indicates you should use that particular booth to call the U.S. and Canada. Other booths are to call Europe and other places. Another sign says the rate to call the U.S is only 50 colones [10 cents] per minute. The set-up is similar to that of an internet salon, with a manager in charge. I walked across the street to check it out. Though I didn't make a call, the gringo that gave me this info said the calls are crystal clear. I will definitely use this service when I need to call the U.S.

yes, that is a nice, clean and convinient location. in fact, by going upstairs to the phone area and enjoying a drink at one of the surrounding tables, one may bump into many of the little darlings calling back home.

while sitting in the cigar bar i had a few calls back to the US.. for a totalof 37 minutes.. cost zero free calls to the US is pretty cool i always make my calls from there.
