Delta Vacations Sets ‘Companion Flies Free’ Promo To Costa Rica
Delta Vacations has re-launched its popular “Companion Flies Free” promotion, this time offering savings on packages to Europe and Costa Rica. As its name implies, the “Companion Flies Free” promotion rewards consumers with 2-for-1 savings on the air portion of select air/hotel vacation packages. This can add-up to big savings of up to $750 per package to London or $600 per package to Costa Rica based on dual occupancy.

Travelers can take advantage of “Companion Flies Free” savings on Costa Rica packages to a choice of 11 resorts featuring the popular Allegro, Barceló, Fiesta, Marriott, Melia, Occidental and Paradisus chains. Eligible bookings must be made by February 12, 2007 for travel through August 31, 2007. A minimum five-night stay is required, and additional restrictions and blackout dates may apply.

In addition to offering travel agents a great consumer incentive to drive early 2007 sales, Delta Vacations also pays up to 15% commission on all Europe and Costa Rica bookings. The Delta Vacations “Companion Flies Free” promotion is valid on new bookings for air-inclusive travel to select destinations and resorts within the Delta Vacations Europe and Costa Rica product lines.

I'm thinkin that the Del Rey, or even the Presidente, isn't one of the hotel choices in these air/hotel packages. You'll probably end up staying in Hotel Gran Costa Rica. :roll:

There's probably isn't anything in San Jose, just beach resorts.

Out of curiosity, I looked into it and BW isn't offered, but there are a couple of SJ hotels:
Inter-Continental, Marriott, and the famous Parque Del Lago. :lol: :lol: :lol:

The IC and Marriott are much more expensive, but the last one must be a real 1/2 star gem at a bargain price of only $1700 for 5 nights, or $850/person.

Let's see:
flight = $450
sharing 5 nights in a dumpy $10 motel = $400

I can see the savings!!!! :roll: :roll: :roll:

The list as published ("Travelers can take advantage of “Companion Flies Free” savings on Costa Rica packages to a choice of 11 resorts featuring the popular Allegro, Barceló, Fiesta, Marriott, Melia, Occidental and Paradisus chains.") would not include the BW Irazu as that is owned by Grupo Marta. However it does list Barcelo and Marriot both of whom have hotels in or close to San Jose.

Parque Del Lago is a very nice hotel and is not that far out of the gulch. It is on Avenida 2 and Calle 40 one block south of Paseo Colon. It is almost directly across from La Piazzetta restaurant which many of us have had some great Italian food :D . Shame they stopped giving us a CRT discount :cry:
