I will be travelling to Costa Rica soon. Where is the best place to meet Ticas: in the Blue Marlin or Key Largo? Do both of these places have the same atmosphere?

Key Largo is like a club it only opens at night (if you like to dance) the Blue Marlin is 24 hours and it is in the hotel Del ray there is also a casino.

If you go to the blue marlin first you will never make it across the street it took me 3 trips before I made it over!

both are operated by the same owners and across the street from one. . another. There are more chicas at the blue marlin but alot of them tend to go bak and forth. the BM is 24/7 and KL is only at night. Have fun!!

My opinion is nothing can compare to the Blue Marlin. Like ChiTownGino said, for your first trip you will never want to leave there.

Have fun.

Gentleman:

Key Largo is nothing more than a disconnected dance floor for the Blue Marlin Del Rey complex. If management gets their way they're going to build an overhead walkway between the two. For all practical purposes they're the same place.

If you can't walk across the street to take a look at the Key Largo, for shame... The ownership is the same but the feel is different. The Del Rey is more intense. The women stare at you as if they were starving sharks and you are a bleeding tuna. If you make eye contact even casually you can end up pestered by somebody you have no interest in.

The Key Largo maintains at least the illusion of a dance club. As said before, it's the same girls, mainly, but it just has a mellower feel to it.

But you can see for yourself with about a 50 yard walk. Then the next time somebody asks which is better, YOU can write the reply. :)

When I was recently there I noticed the same chicas in both places too. They are so close together you can just walk back and forth. You just have to poor your beer into a disposable cup.

It's fun to go back & forth between the two at night. You can get pretty good food at KL for cheap starting about 7pm. The music starts at 10pm and lasts until about 2am.

I'm enjoying my first visit here and I went to the KL last night (Friday). It was really hopping. The girls pretty much drift back and forth between there and the HDR and so did I. Different atmosphere though...it really is a bit more mellow at KL despite the thumping loud music. And the buffet there is 1700 col which is about $3.

I guess I've spent equal time between the Key Largo and Blue Marlin, and I like the scene better at the KL.

I'm drawn by the live music, of course. Alsio, the availability of (admittedly mediocre) food makes it feel more like a party. The BM has more of a commercial feel.

The lighting is better/brighter It seems in the BM, which allows one to more clearly see one's future novia, even while wearing beer goggles.

The buffet is basic and can be very good if you hit it early enough. By about midnight it's pretty disgusting. Made-to-order food and desserts are good. Coffee was lousy.

Thanks to nearby restaurants, there are other late-night choices, including 'Chelles and Nuestra Tierra, the latter being kind of overpriced and a tourist trap, but still quite good.

I just ate there tonight 1700 about 3.40$ rice, beans, chips, chicken stuffed with ham, and 2 other beef choices, wasnt bad, it was at least as good as the other food i have tried so far. This place is unbelievable! I am typing from the computer at the kl. staying at the hotel nuevo johnson, very basic place with a private shower. for 10$ per night it is great!

This city is FANTASTIC!
I will be coming back many times in the future!

Hey Foos- how refreshing to see a new guy all excited and having a blast raving about the KL buffet and the hotel Johnson. Thanks for the great restaurant & hotel review but you forgot to even mention the main course which (we hope) is what you're REALLY excited about, the women! Now find some time to post a report, remember your poor brothers freezing back home that can only read about the currrent escapades going on with guys like you.
