I ate there on the saturday night of the election weekend ( Dec/06 ) w/2 fellow CRT members. Food was excellent and cost around 40-45 dollars with no alcohol.

WARNING: you may be too pooped to party after you gorge yourself with
protein here. I felt like a lion who had just feasted on a nice fat gazelle, I was more concerned with passing out than chaising poosy. But to set the record straight I still chased the poosy.

Was a great place and will go again, but probably too much for moct of the working girls who prefer KFC or " The Hut " .

There are always a lot of cars parked in front of it, so it seems to be good. I peeked inside and the place doesn’t look special or fancy, but I only heard good comments about the food.

The owner got the waiters and the people in the kitchen directly from Brazil.

Well, I thought I would dredge up this old post with some up to date information: A buddy and I had a very negative experience at Fogo and thought the group should hear about it. I can some it up in one word: TOUGH!, The meat would be good for fashioning shoes, but not much other than that. All the cuts we sampled were either tough or tasteless. My feeling is that they were originally using beef imported from Brazil, but are now using local beef as I have eaten there twicein the past (about one year ago) and the beef was tender. On the plus side, the house red wine is very tasty and the salad bar is excellent. :( :( :(

Timbones,
I haven't eaten there in several months, and I was thinking about going there in a couple weeks. What's the (gringo) price up to now, per person ? Maybe I'll just stick with Donde Carlos.

MG I was there a couple of weeks ago & with 1 drink & 2 glasses of wine , it was about $55 per person. IMHO Donde Carlos is much better.

IMHO,

Can we kill this thread.

Overpriced winelist, value begins after the 3 lbs of meat is consumed and good luck being in the mood for a Chica thereafter.

Sorry, too many homemade lemoncello shots tonite. Ph@@cking Circus did you put grain alcohol in the mix instead of vodka?

NF, where are you?

For anybody who's ever eaten in a real churrasceria in Brazil or Argentina, Fogo Brasil is rather mediocre. I find the meats regularly overcooked. Also, there should be some interesting sauces to go with the meats. The cold and warm buffets are OK.

I find the fake gaucho costumes by their waiting staff revolting. The ceilings are far too high and leave one with the impression of eating in a huge banquet hall. If this were my place, I'd get rid of the oversized screens.

This place has been reviewed elsewhere here recently and the consensus is: once was OK (especially when they had a Samba show) but has slid disastrously in the last year or so. And I agree about the costumes and lack of ambience--the waitstaff look embarassed to be wearing them.
I think SJ would take to an authentic Brazilian restaurant, the way they have Argentinian and Peruvian cuisine.

STRAIGHT CLIP JOINT! avoid this place!

I walked in there by myself just last week. I said "hola" to the hostesses. Only gringo in the whole place. They tried speaking spanish with me and I politely told them en espanol that I can only speak a bit of spanish. They laughed in my face pretty much. Now lest you think i'm some idiot tourist, i'm wearing nice clothes, i'm well groomed, and do pretty well with chicas and have $$$ to spend.

Whatever. they lead me to my table. One waiter came out and told me it was "$45 USD to eat here". I asked to see a menu. he told me they didn't ahve one (fair enough). I then asked if the locals around me were all paying $45 usd. He just looked at me. I stood up and walked out.

Total f*cking clip joint. I was so pissed off. I can eat at a good brazilian place here in tampa for $35, how in the f*ck do they think I want to pay L.A. prices when i'm in a third world country?

Every time this thread is resurrected, the story gets worse. Too bad. There is nothing in the world like a great Brasilian churrascaria when done right. Oh to be in one now on Avenida Atlantica in Rio.......followed by a termas or the live show at Bataclan of course.
