Had a great meal at Fogo - San Jose this past Saturday night (11-5)!

Took a little Argentine chica that I meet at the SL on Friday who rocked my world for a couple of hours… So I invited her out for dinner on Saturday. She was great conversation, but best of all had a great knowledge of Argentine and Chilean wines!

As mentioned in the above postings the food and service are excellent! I agree with Hands Solo, the veal was the best of the many choices available, but the beef tenderloin was a close second. The carpaccio on the hors d’oeuvers bar was a nice touch, and the maki rolls were as good as any I’ve had in SF, very fresh!

The wine list was very respectable, the California selections were basic and overpriced (but hey, I’m spoiled…) but I was very impressed with the selections made by my chica, a great Argentine Merlot and a Cab that were a great pairing with the meal…and no I have no idea what the vineyards were, next time I take notes. Yea, I should know better, but with big brown eyes, big boobs, great food, and great wine… who cared.

Tab: $106 dollars, $47 food, the rest wine. That same meal in a Fogo USA, over $300 plus gratuity.

Back to the SL for an after dinner drink to take up to Hermosa, and a $50 TLN…

Fogo is a great choice for a group of hungry guys, but an even better choice to start off a great TLN.

This is a great place to eat. I want there my trip in October. I was on my way to another place when I was Fogo and and the taxi stop, thanks to this thread I remembered the reviews. The chica that was with me loved it as well.

There are places like this in Chicago but I have not eaten there for less than $150 without booze.

The food and service are outstanding and if you get the chance you should to.

Food is excellent, the choice and volume overwhelming and the service impeccable.

I have just one word of caution. When I went there we decided to have a drink at the bar prior to going into the dining room. We both ordered a drink with vodka as one of the ingredients. The bartender immediately pulled a bottle of Grey Goose from the shelf. I informed him that Stoli or Absolute would be fine.

I am not sure had we ordered at the table the drink would have been poured, without me asking, with Grey Goose and we would have been billed accordingly.

Not sure if this is SOP or just an isolated incident.

They price themselves in the range of $44.00- $48.50 at various US locations. This is without dessert.
