I suggest that you guys don't even buy and wear the fake rolex that the vendors sell. (I call them POLEX instead od rolex) The criminals around here aren't the brightest things around. They may cause you harm "thinking they are real." I wear absolutely NO jewelry at all. jeans and tee shirts seem to help me blend in.

Due to what I read prior to leaving, I got on e-bay and bought a cheap combination money clip and watch. Under twenty dollars including shipping.

My top twenty tips say no expensive jewelry and this means watches too.
A cheap plastic sports watch is sufficient and discourages robbers and is waterproof too.

No gold chains, no gold rings, no flashy watches and nothing you cannot stand to lose.
For goodness sake, no single lens reflex cameras.

Why do I have to repeat this stuff??????

First trip to CR I wore a Citizen about $275.00 here in the states. They scared me to death warning me to put my watch and digtal camera away. I said for a cheap watch like this? It is not a Rolex. Stop! Does not matter. Ticos kept saying to me that certain people would kill for the items and not feel any remorse for doing it because it was in late November. The start of the Christmas season for Ticos. I took the advice of every person that warned me. Taxis, Ticos, Ticas, Hotel, etc etc.
Following trips I wore a $35.00 Timex "Expediton". Always kept the digital camera on low profile.

YO Gold Bearers:

Old Circus now only hits on chicas that wear an authentic ladies presidential rolex. In fact, I've narrowed my selection of chicas to only those owning and wearing one. Hopefully this new tactic will finally get me laid.

You guys be sure to let me know when you run into one and contact me with her cell number. I might stoop low enough for a two tone date just rolex if things get slow.

I have worn my Rolex to CR and had no problems. But I think on this trip I'm not. I've seen guys at HDR wearing them. I agree with all you guys, it's just plain stupid to call attention to yourself.

Guys

Now that you rich Gringos are leaving your Rolex back home. How 'bout leaving your wallet in the hotel safe?

BM is ripe for pick pockets and this is a frequent occurence. Just pocket about 20,000 colones and leave the rest in the safe.

I just have a 30$ money clip/ watch, no other bling.

Yes the key is to NOT flash around money or whatever.
I usual keep a few loose 1 mil notes in a shirt pocket for taxi or a drink
at the "rey".

The only kind of watch I need is one that runs real slow down there  . That would be a gift worth gifting to the clock watching Chicas  !

The only thing of value I ever take to SJO is my Rolex, done so several times with no problems but having read this thread I think I'll pick up a cheap watch for next time.

Hey Tomas - are you listening? Great idea for a VIP novelty gift for the anniversary party this year. Travel clocks with no second hand that intentionally run about a third slower. Cheap and easy way to maximize your session time... :D

YO clock click dicks:

Yea, a slow clock is good for you stallions but some of us older farts need a faster clock. It's an ego thing. Saying I banged a chica for 5 minutes just doesn't cut the mustard around here without loosing face......and believe me, I've lost a lot of face if you were to look at mine.

The CRT clocks needs to have a FAST and a SLOW adjustment. Especially when you wake up with a minus 2 chica that was a 7-plus just hours ago. Been there ....done that.

Too bad the technology is not several hundred years ahead where we could hit the go "back in time" button so we could wipe away a few bad marriages, bad K*ds, bad health problemas, bad business decisions and just plain bad luck. I'd kill for "that" clock button.

Shit, with my luck, I'd probably hit that button too many times and go back to just before my padre shot his load with sperm # 1,048,521 containing the "Circus gene".....Instead, he puts on a condom and walla....no Circus baby. Guess CRT would be out one less member and all my contributions to society would be erased....har har.

Okay, I can just hear the giggling and cheers out there.

I need to quit watching that damn Sci-Fi channel.
