I will be staying in Heredia. Will the ticas at Del Ray be willing to go to my hotel room in Heredia even though it is in a different city, although close to San Jose?

If you pay taxi fare back to SJ (probably 6$ or so) and pay them something close to their asking price, I suspect you'll do fine. Depending on your tastes, you might find one who won't give a damn where you want to take her. Others dont' want to leave the DR grounds (I've seen this happen even though I live only about 8 blocks from the DR). Happy New Year.

Dennis,
I can answer this one because this is a similar situation that I was in. On my first trip, my buddy and I rented a crappy house in Heredia. It wasn't supposed to be a mongering trip but surf, sun, and relaxation. But I found CRT a couple of weeks before the trip, and the rest is history. We stayed in some part of Heredia called Flores, or something like that, I don't remember the exact name (sorry, it was 18 months ago), but it was 25 minutes by car with NO traffic (10% of the time), and 1 hour the first time we took a taxi to DR (5pm rush hour). Our taxi (w/ meter) was always $11-12 (5,000-5,500 ¢). It adds up. Just one RT trip was about $22-24 daily. The first trip the guy didn't use the meter and asked for $15, but I was a little upset after reading on CRT that you should always have them use a meter. I think I talked him down to $10. :D (We had a rental car by the way, but the parking situation and the traffic in SJ was too much, so we used taxis mostly.)

Anyways, we had A LOT of trouble getting the hotter chicas agreeing to come back to Heredia. The less desired ones would go, usually with little problem, but even a few of them said no. Most said, "No, it's too far". Others said they never go to private houses for security reasons, hotels only. If you're staying in a hotel, it should be better, but you will still have girls who will demand a premium for time wasted in taxi.

If you can change, I'd recommend a hotel in the city. Out of the 9 nights we were there, I think we spent 5-6 in the city, in a hotel, even though we paid for the house, it was that inconvenient in Heredia. Plus with the taxi expense, it seemed more economical.

I apparently underestimated taxi costs. You might just use one of the temp hotels, the Eden, Officina or Asia (in descending order of luxury, ascending order of distance). Lots of girls don't really like the Asia but money talks.

If they don't like the Asia, they've gotten fussier. I remember them suggesting it often some years ago before I gave up on the HDR.
