My amiga took me to this seafood restaraunt La Princessa. It was about a 10 minute, $5 ride from the SL. I had the best meal there. We both had a whole, deep fried, butterflied tilapia. They created a pocket in the middle of the fish and added shrimp, clams, scallops, octopus, squid.
Great meal for $8.

A long time favorite of mongers. Atmosphere "0" food "7 to 10" depending on how picky you are. La Princessa Marina a great value. Hard to beat the price for the quality of the food.

I will definitely check this place out during Superbowl week since I love good seafood and don't give a shit about atmosphere.

La Princessa Marina is a favorite of mine as well. I go to the one in Sabana. I like the whole fried fish. :)

Anyone have an address?

You know CR taxi's. They have no idea where anything is at.

Squirrel,

Tell any cab driver you want to go to La Princessa Marina in Sabana, and they'll know where to go. It's about a 15 minute cab ride from the gulch. Addresses don't mean much in Costa Rica. :)

Sabana location, nice place, super clean, packed at lunch with office worker type ticos which should tell u alot, atmosphere at least equal or better to the restaurant at the DelRey. Not a romantic type place, more like a very clean semi modern Centro Americano place. Only thing I don't like is tables are too close. Very reasonable. Order two drinks at the same time when they are busy because they are understaffed & you will wait. Seafood soup is tops; excellent civeche. Mandatory place for early or late lunch--12-1 too crowded. 4 stars. Never disappointed.

The atmosphere at the Sabana and Zapote-Curridabat locations leave a lot to be desired, even though the food is great.

I found the MORAVIA location BEST--- best atmosphere, great service and outstanding seafood.
My first choice for family dinners on special occassions. A treat for 8 to 10 persons of cerviche or shrimp appetizers, langusta [lobster] in 5 different styles , great fresh seafood selection,, and desserts--- all for about $100   :D :D That includes soft drinks for the youngsters, beer , and usually a couple bottles of excellent Chilean Chardonay white wine.

Have not tried the Alajuela location yet--- Anybody comment???

Cygnus

A couple of years ago, I asked a taxi driver to take us to a good seafood restaurant, and he took us to La Princesa Marina. I’ve been going back every visit.

Two orders of ceviche, two lobster dinners, and a whole bottle of Casillero del Diablo Chardonnay for 30 bucks. You can’t beat that.

Irish Drifter, here is rough map that includes the Alajuela location.

Many thanks DG. Will give it a try next time I am in the area. I can walk to the one in La Sabana so usually go there but while the food is great the atmosphere really leaves a lot to be desired

I haven't been to la Princessa in Alajuela but I have been to the ones in la Sabana and Moravia. A little out of the way but I agree with Cygnus the Moravia resturant is a big step up in atmosphere, worth the extra taxi fare. The quality of the food I can't tell the difference always fantastic.
