Starting at 6pm this evening is a fun happeneing on Avenita segunda that any of you currently in town should head over to. 10s of thousands of people will be hooting and hollering as an endless parade of floats go by. Unlike the US,you can even have a beverage of your choice while watching. Be prepared for crowds though. It will also be tough getting into and out of SJ for hours before and after it's over.

I had an excllent view of the fireworks from my balcony- pretty impressive, 4th of July never looked so good firing off from Banco National roof about eye level to Barrio Escalante. Good show!

I have been around for a few of these Festival de Luz and this year I watched it on the TeleTica on TV. I never realized the parade was so Grand; you don’t see shit from the street unless you staked out your spot waay ahead of time. No balloons but very Macy Day Parade-like. Also very impressive with several areas of Costa Rica and Central American countries represented. Grand Gala! Feliz navidad!

Novice;
We probably live in the same area. I too had a great view of the fireworks from El Balcon. I did not venture into town to see the parade but a buddy did. He walked from Sabana Oeste and was able to secure a grandstand seat near the start of the parade. He was surrounded by family groups and thouroughly enjoyed himself. He had to pay the security type 7000 colones for the perch but he said it was worth it. Maybe next year, I'll go.

It is most definitely a Festive time to be in San Jose. I was there the past two years and miss being there again.rbc100

I must admit that one of the best nights I had on my last stay was the Friday before the Festival on Sat. A CRT buddy of mine (Big Jim) and I loaded up on bags of confetti and joined in the fun of tossing confetti on the people as we strolled up and down the walk-way outside of the Prez. Balls of fun...
