I use the term "favorita" when describing a girl whose fantasy hasfantasy that has lasted/will last more than an evening. "Novia" is indeed ridiculous to some...but if you are knowingly playing a role, the leading man in your own fantasy, call her what you will!

If she's a real working girl and that's how she makes a living the only thing keeping her your novia is that she hasn't betrayed you yet or she has but you just don't care.. Some guys want to have a special interest.. It's understandable.

I guess it's OK to have regular chicks, that you can even call novias, buy to what extent.

I mentioned to Ruffnutz this past Saturday I would start a thread similar to this one due to fact that so many CRT guys can't even hang because they have girlfriends.

Now there are some exceptions like Ruffy and Orange for example whom have bonafide girlfriends.

There are chemicals in the brain that will make smart and distiguished gentlemen give themselves psuedo-mafia type nick-names, lie to friends and family, pack their best attire, book a flight and a room, fly to a third world country, hang out with other like-minded gentlemen who are complete strangers just so they can pay chicas for sex.

Also believe that we, as CRT bros, should not be as harsh with posters who talk about chica as if they were true novias, or whatever, because other posters may hesitate to post in a time when they could really use our support. I hope that makes sense.

A very commendable response: this is a classic double edged sward being harsh with someone who talks about being in love with one of these girls may make someone reluctant to seek help but at the same time it may discourage others from ever getting into the situation in the first place. What's the best way to deal with the situation? Good cop bad cop: some of us make fun of them for doing it and others offer sound advice how to deal with it. Personally don't get into it.

OK seriously, there will always be guys falling head over heels over working girls and even guys that should know better will just do it anyway. Just take a look at Jazzmusician's recent post in his "Research" thread about all the girls in Brazil and Colombia he's met that have guys sending money and proposing to them, same goes on in CR. Have seen several pros whisked away and married to some gringo this year. But Berk does make a point, concerning certain guys that consider certain chicas "girlfriends". But I don't care as long as they still screw me while he's paying her not to work.

I'm a little split on this issue. On one side, I could care less what anyone calls their regular "whore". Your fantasy is just that - your fantasy. Is it healthy? The jury is out and undecided.

However, calling a whore your "novia" is sending the WRONG message to not only her, but yourself, and others on the board. Since moving to CR, I can't tell you how many guys have been fooled into thinking that their special chicas are novias only to get crushed with reality. It just makes you more vulnerable to her game. And -yes - it is her game, not yours.

After spending nearly 2 years in this game, I think of DR, SL girls and the like as nothing but business providers. Its not much different than going to the dentist, a massage therapist, etc. Actually, I almost feel they are just human vending machines. I will admit that early in the game, I actually did think that a girl in Jaco was my novia. She would lie and tell me that she stopped working and I actually believed her bullshit at first. Boy was I a dummy!!!

Here's the stark reality. I would guess that 50% or more of these girls are legally MARRIED to a tico. Nearly ALL of the remaining gals have tico boyfriends. Ofcourse, she will lie and tell you she has no novio. That is what they are taught in their hooking 101 courses. So where do you fit in that picture? Do you still want to call her your novia?

I find this thread somewhat amusing in that you hombres are all debating or arguing over classification names for women. After all, you guys are paying for it one way or another.... whether it's prostitution or your lovely gringa girlfriend or wife in your home town.

To my understanding, a Novia (capitalized in respect) is a desired and repeatable sex partner......a little more trusted (not much) than a favorita. One that provides not only sex but a friendly disposition, TLC, and somewhat reliable relationship when you are in their local. A standard whore fucks you, grabs the dinero and to hell with you after your time is up along with the fact that you could care less if you ever saw her again.

Unlike a favorita, A so called Novia is more desired and corted by older girngos due to past bad marriages, relationships or the simple fact that many older men desire some substance other than just sex from a woman. Yes, many men invest more dinero than ttey should in order to keep that pretty thing happy but your ass could drop dead the next day so if you have it....use it if that makes one happy. Hell of a lot less dinero than from that divorse many here have suffered from.

Bert and others of you are correct in your feelings about this matter because that is your mindset. It's how you have modeled your personal feelings and lifestyle. El Ciego may be tongue in cheek to a degree but he can differentiate between what chica is a bit caring a which ones are not.

It's a fantasy world out there and my advice is to treat it that way. Catagorize them as you may but do so with whatever makes you feel happy and content.
