Just keep searching American, Delta and US Air. Rates change daily so keep watch.

If you're not going until February you may get better fares after New Years Day. Also, if you don't already, check EWR. Continental has non-stop flights.

Jasper,
I'm in NYC also and I always fly TACA. I take the nonstop flight, leaves JFK at 5:40am, gets to SJ at 9:40am. Coming back it leaves SJ at 6:30pm, arrives at JFK around midnight. No traffic to/from airport and no lines at check-in/security.

The price is usually right too. I am currently looking for a flight for 1/31-2/6, but the fares are high at $572 (w/ tax). In December or after the holidays, that price should be down to mid to upper $400's. I am going to CR this week. I paid $433 (w/ taxes). I bought my ticket 5 weeks ago. If you buy it too far out, you will end up paying too much. Also, check taca.com, there are sometimes specials.

If you need any other info, PM me.

thanks all

orange, taca seems like the way to go for sure. do you just book via their site, or do you go through someone else?

after my experience staying ALL DAMN NIGHT in charlotte sleeping on the floor and taking 30+ hours to come home, i think direct is the best!

www.taca.com, through Chicago always save money booking directly on site and have yet to have a delay in 5 trips with them...I here you on Charlotte all night, although their fault and got 5 hours in a hotel with 3 free drinks and a 5 AM wake up for a 7 AM flight back home..Also got a $100 voucher from them 1 1/2 years ago and have yet to use it because I save more than that flying Taca...Most I have ever paid is 437 when USairways and all the others were $550+

Would recommend after 2 AM CST, that is when I find all the deep discounts, usually 6-8 weeks prior to flight dates...

I live on Orlando and I'm planning my first trip to CR in January. I've been watching airfare...checking every few days and $480-$550 seems to be about the norm. Is this about right or should I take a chance and wait another couple of weeks before booking?

Over the years TACA has had specials on Christmas & New Year"s Day but they only last for a day or two. Check their web site Cristmas Eve or sign up for their email list.

The fuel surcharge from DFW is $190 and is added in your ticket price
