On my upcoming Dec trip, I would like to venture out of SJ and was looking for some ideas from my fellow CRTers. Interested in visiting another city for a day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

IMO, the two most fun tours are ATV and Canopy.

CRT has a VIP discount with a ATV tour. See this link for info: https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7803

I did the Canopy in Jaco, but they're everywhere, your hotel will have brochures about this and many many other day trips.

As far as other towns, I heard Puerto Limon is pretty cool. It's on the Caribbean side.

I took a couple tours that I enjoyed. Both were full-day ones, on which I met some interesting people.

One tour went to the volcano Poas, nearby waterfalls (impressive), a large butterfly facility, rain forest, etc.

Another one went to the west coast, and including a neat boat trip, which included the captain hand-feeding 15-foot long aligators. We went to a terrific resort for swimming and a great lunch. We viewed a place where about 500 huge aligators are fed chickens (also impressive).

Each cost about $90 and was worth it. You are picked up delivered at your hotel.

BTW, can someone tell me of other tours, including one to Cartuga? I will be back in February.
