Well, I'll take them at their word and check in on the 16th or so, but the discounts sure the hell aren't happening yet - in fact, I couldn't find any fares lower than $600 from LA through the rest of the year. Here's hoping we'll see something like those low $400-range late October fares...

I ran a search on Taca's website for round trip airfare from miami to CR and it gave me a non-stop flight for $426.00. I found an even better rate with AA non-stop for $407.00.

I'm thinking that the specials haven't kicked in yet. $572 is NOTHING special. But it does say visit us in the last 15 days of the month, which would be starting today, but I'm hoping it'll kick in tomorrow or Friday.

I'm not finding anything under 600 bones. The "Visit us again during the last 15 days of the month to find special fares to Costa Rica" is missing from Taca's site so I can only presume that its "special" fares are in effect. I guess "special" means "extra cash from horny gringo mongers for us." CR fares can be brutal in the winter. That's why I focus on Europe in the winter ($307 round trip to Germany in January) and make most of my CR runs in the warmer months when I can feel like I'm exchanging my cash for valuable consideration rather than a dry prison raping. I've never experienced a dry prison raping, but my imagination tells me it would be a most unpleasant experience. Kind of like buying plane tickets to Latin America in the winter.
