My Tica girl, myself and another couple decided to go friday night for the "best paella in costa rica" at the Marbella restaurant in San Pedro at Calle Real, as they advertize in the Costa Rica Today Newspaper.

We made reservations for 830. got there and the place was empty on a friday night that scared us but we stayed. four waiters two bartenders etc.
We told them up front we (the boys) came for their Paella. I ordered the seafood and Joe ordered the chicken. The waiter proceded to tell us we had to order the same or order double portions. We thought he was crazy but he was serious. Why would we want double portions when the price on the menue was for a single portion at 3,900? He said that was their rules. Bull chit

We looked at each other and both got up left the drinks and left the palce. the waiter said what about the drinks? we said we didnt drink anything give it to the manager to drink and maybe he might change his rules and have customers

We have no idea how the Paella is but with rules like that why would anyone want to eat there

Other than that the place looked nice but it was empty LOL

In defense of any restaurant that serves Paella, most only will do in quantities of 2 orders. I have never seen any restaurant do a single Paella order here, states, or Panama. You should have paid for your drinks.

Cookie I have had it in Miami, Orlando, and Poinciarico south of Kissimmee in the best of restaurants and never a double order. If that was the case I would have not posted it. Maybe we can go to dinner some time your in town. Long time no see
