New York City has a Cost of Living (COL) index of 100. San Jose is at 58.1.

Puerto Rico has experienced high inflation during the last year which, together with the strength of the country’s currency (US dollar), means San Juan is the costliest city in Central America and the Caribbean in 55th position (score 81.4).

San Jose is the least expensive in 134th place (58.1). Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic is in 126th position (65.3) and has dropped 27 places due to the depreciation of the Dominican Peso against the US dollar.

They obviously didn't include Del Rey Colombianas in the cost calculations...

Actually, I'm a bit surprised that San Jose isn't higher up on the list, but I suppose we just need to give it time at this rate.

A couple of interesting comparisons. Panama City is significantly more expensive to live in than San Jose (col of 68.5 compared to 58.1) many posts here on CRT have talked about how cheap it is to live in Panama. The other comparison especially for mongers is that Rio (a favorite of many here) has jumped from 124th to the 34th most expensive city in the world. B A appears to continue to be a cheap destination for mongering at 142nd.

But then again Tehran,Iran is more expensive to live in than San Jose,so who knows what these numbers really mean. Hey what's the hooker situation like in Iran. Is is good,or does that maniac President keep all the good ones for himself? Does anyone know if the Iranian women take off their veils when the phuck?

Exactly VB, when I first read the chart I got a few shocks.

But then Panama is still a cheaper place to live in as a country, considering the costs of food and consumer products. I suppose PC's cluster of richer folks, business and professional people are larger than say SJO , thus drives up and sustains the their property value/rental costs, which is used in part of their calculation for the rankings.

CR has a lot of rich folks too, look at Calvin Ayer the bodog guy for example. But I don't think the cluster of rich folks are residing in the city per se, so that affects the ranking. In addition, there may be much more poor ones living within SJO than the richer ones reltive to the situation in PC, so hence the result.

As for RIO, there are a lot of rich people settling in say, the rich and chic Leblon area. Bigger population, more people with $$$ in the city. So It is ranked right after Miami, but that only says so much, I'd feel much safer walking in MIA, South Beach or Downtown at night, than say in Copa,Rio.
We can bling as much as we want in MIA most part but we don't dare doing that on the streets in Rio.

For some cities, the rankings only say so much, there are indeed a large polulation of deep pockets living there.

As for Tehran, I haven't been there but have seen a documentary on our national CBC network , about the life of 2 putas. Same shit over there for the locals: drugs, prostitutes. Of course not much tourists mongering:lol: The amazing thing is that , which I didn't know then, the muslim there are allowed to have short term wifes, make a deal with the Iranian chica or whatever about monthly $$$ and support, go to the local cleric/priest and he'll pronounce you hubby and wife. Contract can terminate any time. ... aphuckingmazing.

Miami and Rio are side-by-side on this chart, and having now lived in both places, I can report it just "ain't so." Housing is easily 25 % lower for comparable digs, food is two-fifths what it is in Miami, and since it's easy to live without a car (especially compared to Miami), that knocks down the transportation budget. A few things are costlier (like electric), and healthcare is up there, but then we can talk women. Once here for a while, you can have all the beautiful garotas you can handle for between R100 and 200 ($45 to $90), and less, often with no clock or rules.

In the end you may spend the same for pu*sy, but the difference here is you get five times as much with more choice, variety, beauty, and yes, heat. And that says nothing of non-pro's, a completely viable option.

To understand that survey, you need to look at their methodology, which I glanced over. The things they use to gague living costs aren't necessarily the costs I would encounter, nor many of the rest of this board. The survey is, I believe, aimed at adjusting pay for executives working overseas. I don't live like a CEO so it's not too useful for me.

Yeah - I'm not certain about the accuracy of their data. For example, when I was in Beijing, I ate lunch for 24 cents. How the hell is its rating so high? I also got a haircut in Beijing which included shampoo, massage and optional happy ending for $3. The happy ending would have costed $10 additional.

Also in Beijing, I paid for a business meal for 15 people at an "expensive" restaurant, which included apps, entries and desert, and it only costed $37. What gives?

In Shanghai, you can get wasted on wine, eat a nice meal for two and have a sexy chinita for all night for under $100. This is considered the most expensive city in mainland China.

CR is much more expensive than Beijing and Shanghai.

Indeed. The ranking only reflects what it sat out to measure, nothing more and nothing less.

I had the chart printed out and that actually led to some interesting conversation and responses this evening. Other than the few cities already mentioned, GUATEMALA CITY was another focus for rounds of , I was going to say discussion, LOL, drunken talks .
