I have 2 standard rooms booked at SL. Can anyone tell me how nice these rooms are, and is there any bad reports of staying in these room. I have stayed at the Prez many times and like it, other than their rules. How does SL compare to the prez regarding there rooms and atmosphere?
Thanks

I stayed at the Sportsman's a few weeks ago for the first time. I really enjoyed the experience. Although we had to stay in older rooms because of a lack of space they were satisfactory. We always stayed at the Presidente before but have booked our trip in Janurary to stay the full time at the Sportsman's. You will find all the employees very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is a lot more relaxed and you can take any tica to your room without having to check her in. We enjoyed sitting in the bar area and visiting will all the different mongers. I really enjoyed having sex in my room while waching the porno channel at the same time.

I believe that the standard rooms are in the older section. They are fine for me. The good thing now is that ALL rooms at SL have A/C, which wasn't the case a few months ago. It can get stuffy at times. As far as the rooms go, they are all clean, the mattresses are good, but some have complained about noise (especially if you're near the bar or reception area). I'm a heavy sleeper so it's not an issue for me, but I can see why people say that. Personally, I prefer the older rooms, they are a better value at $50-60 versus $80-100 in the new wing.

I have never stayed in the Prez, so I can't compare, sorry. The atmosphere at SL is very friendly. You can chill at the bar, don't have to stay in the room while you're not with a chica. There are chicas there most of the time too. They are pretty friendly and many of the guys that stay there are CRT's.

The only rooms I don't care for are the ones that have shared bathrooms. The shared living room area attracted some noisy visitors while I was there.

Just go out and find yourself a screamer and it will drown out any noise.

I agree the older (standard) rooms are noisy, however, it doesn't last all night like it does at the DR. The bar closes about midnight and the place quiets down pretty quickly then. I have stayed at the Presidente, the DR and the SL. I choose to shop at the DR but stay at the SL due to the friendly atmosphere. In any case be sure to check it out. Ask to see the new rooms. Also get wait listed. I have gotten in on a cancelation.

On the other hand the Presidente does have spa rooms for $85 w/ CRT discount, but you don't have the friendly bar/meeting area.

Sandman07,
Ditto on the noise but it usually dies down by midnight during the week and shortly thereafter on the weekends. YMMV depending on who else is there. My friends stayed at the Presidente when I was at the SL- more freedom at the SL and a better "fraternity" or club atmosphere. You cannot beat Bill, Johana, Asta, et al for making you feel at home.
Have fun!

The problem Orange was I think the guard had a screamer in that living room area at around 2-3 AM.

Sandman,

I think you'll do fine in a standard room, particularly for the price. The SL is a better choice for anyone who prefers a "club" or "fraternity" environment; with 24 rooms the hotel feels more like home, like a nice house rather than a commercial hotel.

I have now stayed in Amor (old section) Belleza (old section) and Hermosa (new section). Of course, I liked Hermosa best, but Belleza was perfectly comfortable, although light sleepers might be bothered. The only room I'd avoid is Amor...but YMMV.

Amor! Ah, memories...

Also: Paz, Felicidad, Traquilidad, Belleza, Hermosa, El Rey...

Somehow, I seem to associate each of the most memorable sessions with its location...

Have to agree with the above on Paz and Amor, I have had equal displeasure in Belleza and Felicidad as they are right next to the bar and quite nisy.

On the other hand I have enjoyed staying in Fiesta and Allegra (as long as a wingmen is sharing the bathrooom) I Have no problem other than the small rooms.

As far as the new wing, I have had no complaint other the a large party one night in the Penthouse that was rather loud.

I myself have stayed in 8 of the rooms in the old wing and 3 of the rooms in the new. I would highly recommend the new wing although slighly more expensive, worth it IMHO.

I’ve stayed at the Prez about a year ago, and Sportman about 2 months ago. While there are many threads on this, I’ll add the following comments:

Prez was low $50’s for a basic room. Beds were comfortable, and shower was great. This is a more modern hotel, noisy at times with chica’s walking in high heels on the tile floors in the hallway, and some traffic noise in the mornings. Casino is attached to the building, and many families/married couples. Staff was friendly and businesslike.

Sportsman, I stayed in Amor, which is an older room near the front of the hotel, and maybe 40 to 50 feet from the bar. Cost is a few bucks more than Prez, but comparable. Bed was comfortable, shower was only average and somewhat old. The television had 1 porn channel and lots of sports channels, good enough for when I was in the room and gave me a little variety. The huge advantage of SL over Prez is the bar area and the great service by the staff. It feels like Cheers (where everyone knows you after a few days), great food in the bar, and plenty of women who are glad to take the short walk to your room. Also, Zona Blue and New Fantasy are only a short walk away….

I’ve decided that Sportsman is my preferred hotel when rooms available, and the Prez will be my backup.

Hope this helps some, especially if it’s your first trip …
