Could it be that some folks just come to CR with unrealistic expectations? Having stayed at HDR several times I have noticed that the treatment I recieve from both the staff & the chicas has gotten better each time. Until they see you enough to consider you a regular you cant expect to be treated like a VIP. 2 OR 3 trips is not enough to put you in this category in my opinion. I had to put up with this crap too for awhile, but now they seem to go out of thier way at times to make me happy. SL & ZB do this as well. The difference is that HDR is much larger and has alot more people coming & going. Because of this they have to deal with more problems from the large # of chicas , hotel guests , gamblers , drunks, other mongers , and assorted assholes off the street. I agree that many of the girls are idiots in need of a reality check , but most of the other complaints I keep hearing I don't agree with.

Talk about YMMV ! ! ! Many of the girls sit in little groups because they are a little nervous and do not like rejection. I have found many light up with a BIG Smile and are so friendly when I talk to them .

I stay away from tongue piercings.

A small tip will get the job done at the Del Rey, and for that matter, just about ANYwhere else in CR.

I had a great time at several MPs including New Fantasy.

I had such a good time I rented an Apartment and stayed here.

So many girls to choose from. The one sleeping in my bed right now is my favorite.

You gotta admit that Jenjad makes some valid points.

I've talked with at least 100 guys who have stayed at the HDR; at least half bitched about the overused beds, noise, lack of cleanliness and/or staff attitude.

I think if one's whole purpose is drinking, gambling and screwing, particularly for a long weekend, the HDR is a perfectly viable option.

I won't stay there; I like the SL and Presidente too much, particularly the former. Also, my psychic self feels really bad energy all around the HDR. No joke; my skin usually starts to crawl the moment I approach calle 9 and avenida 1. Spooky.

Now, to your comments about ZB: Jenjad, are you f*cking crazy? I understand YMMV, but to rate the ladies at 5 or 6!? Even I, blind as the proverbial murcielago, know that 99% of the ZB ladies rate at least a strong 7. Maybe you visited too early/late in the day? Furthermore, it's easy to interact with the chicas there, but like most girls at the BM, you've got to bust the first move. As a frequent repeat ZB customer, I found that I was usually surrounded by 3-4 beauties every time I stepped up to the bar. Certainly, YMMV.

Here's my suggestion: As YMMV and the grass is always greener someplace else, please do go to Rio, B.A., Pataya, Angeles City, Amsterdam, Frankfurt...then please do post comparisons in the "Trip Reports...Around the World" section of this Forum. I'd love to read an honest side-by-side comparison.

In the meantime, while the rest of us wallow in the filth, crime, sub-par chicas, blown-out beds and nastiness of San Jose...we'll raise a glass in your honor.

Sorry..I actually like the Del Rey! I have never stayed there and most likely will not in the future. I do like to walk around and view the selections. I am picky...yet there are always a few nice selection to bring the little guy to life.

I like the fact that all the gals are carded so I know they are legal. I don't drink much and don't gamble... so its all about the chicas. I have never experienced anything negitive from the staff.

Its what it is and I wish them well!!!!!!!

All joking aside, Jenjad is right about one thing, the rooms do suck at HDR. I just like to stay there because it is so damn convienient. Also, if i EVER have a problem with a girl or anything else, they ALWAYS take care of me. YMMV

Huh? The biggest problem I have with the Del Rey is that everytime I go there just to have a beer, watch a game, or just chat with the guys, I get interrupted every few minutes by a chica and can't finish a conversation. I have learned that if I am not ready to haggle with the chicas, and just want to relax, to go to an alternative setting (New York Bar) and return to the DR when I am ready for business. I guess CR is not every mans cup of tea.

Anyway, after heading "deep south" with some frequency, my first trip back to SJ was met with some eye-opening criticisms. But, I quickly realized that I should just enjoy the advantages of SJ when there, and those of Rio and BA when there. Simple.

SJ is closer.... a lot closer.

The P4P atmosphere is much more blatant. You can go from zero-to-immersed in professional girls in moments, 24/7.

It is more social. There are dozens of friends to make every trip. Or, participating in CRT social events will make for tremendous fun.

It is a more well-rounded heonist adventure. Where else can play poker or blackjack, watch and gamble on sports, drink endless beers for $1-2, eat inexpensively, deep-sea fish AND get a $20-50 full-service session with a momen'ts notice?

While the demeanor of the girls is definitely more subdued, I have come to realize that, once the social differences are overcome with more overt effort on our parts, the girls really aren't that much different.

I still say that D'Palufo is the funnest strip joint in all of the world, and the reasonably-prices sessions with strippers in Kamur and silly-cheap experiences to be had at Molino Rojo/VIP's/Arcadas are unique opportunities.

All of that said, of course there are tremendous advantages to deep South America. BA is elegant with beatiful caucasion girls and Brasilian girls are extraordinarily gifted in the art of seduction and in dedication to mutual sexual satisfaction.

Eddie, if you're still following this thread, I would love to see you push ZB a little farther, making it more like the famous termas in Rio. If nothing else, a little O2 in the air and complimantary/required coffee consumption for the girls would help. Can they not see the financial rewards Pamela enjoys as a result of her demeanor in the cigar bar? If you haven't been to Rio, I'll get you a buddy pass and go with you.

And, ZB girls are probably the very best in SJ in this area.

Ive stayed at the HDR twice & the staff goes quite out of their way
to make sure that I am satisfied to no end. On my second trip they greeted me like an old friend returning from sea. ( or maybe that was like old semen ). They all remembered my name. Only negative I can remember is the Damn Assole cabdrivers outside playing w/ their car alarms all night long. What the phuck is that all about.
As far as the ticas go , I wish you were in the bar when I was so I could of pawned off some of the little girls that would not leave me alone. Hands all over me, exposing their firm, succulent, tasty, wonderful breasts & whispering to me all the tricks they were going to do to me once we were alone, touching peepee's. That's some terrible shit ! Your absolutely right.
I try treat the staff w/ respect & tip too.
Maybe thats a difference.
As with any experience, You only get out of it what you put into it.

I just got back from staying at the HDR (my 1st time in CR). We had rooms 608,609, and 610. Great rooms! I was there the nights of Sept. 16th, 17th, 22nd and 23rd. I set in the living room and watched my maid change out my sheets every day. I gave her a c2000 ($4) tip every morning. In return she kept all 3 of us with 9 to 10 clean towels each.
I'm waiting on the pictures before I do a trip report. I will stay there again.

Great post Slick - I've suggested something similar before. Actually, during the party events at ZB the atmosphere isn't too far off from that of a terma (as I've heard it described - still haven't enjoyed one personally as of yet). Girls are dancing, partying, making out with the customers - way more fun than the usual sitting around and staring.

And speaking of Pamela - it's almost an art form how she works a room. Prior to the CRT Party on Sunday of Labor Day weekend, a group of us headed down to Zona around noon. After six sessions there over the preceding eight days I was feeling a little ZB burnout, and decided just to kick back and watch the show (I later headed over to NF for a nice session with hottie Monica).

As usual, things were kind of dead until the moment Pamela entered the room - suddenly the energy level goes up exponentially. Within minutes, she and Laura (Lorena) were doing their famous tandem kissing thing with a guy at the bar, and - lo and behold - he went back with them for a session. Meanwhile, Paola, Camilla, Brenda, Tammy, etc., were all still just sitting there. You'd think they would have figured something out by now...
