Volcano Lodge......About $55.00 per night for two, several years ago. Short cab ride to Tabacon Springs. Nice view of the volcano from your room patio. They have a swimming pool and a nice outdoor restaurant with a wonderful view of the volcano while you eat.

OK, this doesn't qualify as cheap but hands down the best hotel in Arenal is the Hotel Kioro. I thought it blew Tabacon away. It is the closest hotel to the volcano and has spectacular rooms with your own private jacuzzi. It is so new I sometimes felt like I had the whole place to myself. I will absolutely stay there again. Not cheap, but if you want to spoil yourself or your favorite chica, this is the place to take her.

Hey MickeyD hate to stray from the original question but could you post a few more details on Kioro and how it compares to Tabacon and why you considered it so much better? There are no reviews of the hotel here, in fact you're one of the few to ever even mention it. Just curious about the pricing, views, food etc...
