Jaco is still a good place to relax. Try the Club del Sol (clubdelsoljaco.com). It is a 1 mil taxi ride from for BB. These are 1 and 2 bedroom condos in a quiet setting. One block walk to the beach. Hotel has a nice pool area.

On both of my previous stays the place has been almost empty. Last trip BMOChica from SJ....she loved the place.

If searching for talent the BB is probably the best option outside the DR.

TT,
IMO, Flamingo is definitely better than Jaco. It is hot, but not as humid, so it's more comfortable. But you better bring a date with you, or you will be very lonely at the beach. The talent there is NON-EXISTANT from what I've seen in 2 trips there.

However, it can be pricey. If you've got deep pockets, it's no biggie, but for the budget minded traveler, it's expensive. You pretty much have to fly there. It's just too far to drive, unless you want to waste 5-7 hours each way on horrible (and dangerous) roads. The flight is $170/person roundtrip. That's $340 for you and the girl. The two main hotels (Flamingo Marina and Flamingo Beach Resorts) aren't cheap. Everything from the food to drinks are priced to the gringo. The basic rooms are $90-100 and the suites are $140-200. Avoid eating at the resorts or you will be paying American resort prices ($19+/person). Go to any restaurant outside the hotel and you're paying 1/3 of that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bad-mouthing it. I like Flamingo a lot, and it's great to get away from SJ for a couple of nights with somebody you get along with, but keep in mind that it'll add up (~$800 for 3 days/2 nights, and that's without going fishing).

Here are the hotel websites:
