Hi guys, I've been lurking for a few months now, but this is my first post. I'm coming down there in Oct. (14-21) and I'm planning to stay at the Del Rey. I have a question about their reservation procedure, which strikes me as a bit odd.

After giving them my credit card info on their website, they e-mail me with an attachment to download that I need to fill out the credit card info again and fax it back to them because they need a signature.

Has anyone else experienced this yet? Is this safe and on the up and up? I just find it odd I would need to give them my CC info twice.
Thanks in advance, guys.

Hey Big,

I reserved a room at HDR also and they did the same thing with me, just has to do with having your signature on the confirmation sheet that is all. As was informed by them, it is just to hold your room nothing is charged. Seems very legit to me. Although being new, I am sure vets on this board would have much more on the subject. Just trying to help out.

Easiest way for me to get in touch with them was through emails. They responed the same day each time I had a question for them. I also saved/printed out each email and will bring down there with me, as one more piece of confirmation.

Have fun down there.

I've stayed at the HDR on my four trips and will be there again this Oct 20-23. The first one was in July '05, after that they started the thing with the form and signature. It's just to hold the room and maybe they wanted to reinforce that if you're a no-show and don't cancel then you'll be charged the first night anyway.

Do it and have fun.
Good choice for a first trip.

Go to the happy hour at five P.M. at the street entrance to the Blue Marlin or in the deli near the street entrance to the hotel and look for cool guys sitting around and ask:

"See Our Tea?" If they say yes ask if you can buy them a drink and join in the conversation and gain some knowledge and friends.
