The security when leaving SJO on 8/29 was something, much better than what I've seen here in the states. They searched my carry-ons and kept my 4 oz. bottle of contact-lens solution and an almost empty little tube of blistex. I explained that according to the TSA and Delta those thing are acceptable and I brought them down in my carry-on just 5 days ago. He only says "new rules" and tells me to check my bag if I want to take those items. Then they discuss taking my deodorant, I pointed out it says "Stick" and is not a gel, they call in the next Tico in the chain of command and after a conference in spanish and close visual inspection decide it's OK.
Before boarding the plane they bring in 2 dogs, one at the gate and one down in the walkway to the plane, sniffing as you walk by. Then they search all carry-ons AGAIN before you're allowed to board, I go through the same thing with the Tica and my deodorant, she has to ask her boss before deciding it's Ok. In spite of all this things went fairly quickly and we left on time.
Then when we landed in ATL there were 2 agents at the gate looking at everyone's passport as we exited the plane, not sure if this is something new or they were looking for somebody in particular.

Paco...when you landed all you had to do was show them your VIP card from CRT. Membership Does have it's privileges. By the way the dogs are there to smell how much leche you left in CR.There is a minimum requirement these days. You probably didn't bathe your whole trip so that you can go visit Latino heat and have him smell your after-trip C*m stains.

Hell no, I know VB didn't just try to cook me. What's this world coming to? I do agree that Paco probably didn't bathe his entire trip, so the dogs were useless/confused trying to distinquish the odor of ass from explosives.

One side note I received an email from Hand-Solo yesterday and he is alive and well in Edmonton. I asked him why he has been abscent from the board and he stated that his laptop is in Colombia and he does not want to use his work computer to access the site....I guess he's learning.

His laptop is in Colombia..... along with everything else of value????? Did you ask him if his check from work is direct deposited into "Banco Medellin"

I also got an email from our poor married amigo, he said he was heading to Colombia today for a visit. Hey, maybe he will stop by CR and see you VB, you two can re-live the good old days with a trip to PriceSmart, I'm sure you always made Handy push the cart.

I always count on bringing back four bottles of Flor de Cana from the Duty Free shop. Have they figured out yet how to handle Duty Free?

I didn't pay close attention Lurker but from what I saw you picked up your purchases going down the ramp to the plane. Then they instructed people that they MUST put any bottles w/liquid into their checked bags before rechecking them in Atlanta.
