I was just thinking about my upcoming trip to CR and I was thinking about the places I could use my CRT card and I had a question regarding the cards use. When is the appropriate time to show your CRT membership card?

In the past, it has been at the end of the session (ZB) or at the end of a meal. That said, in the past I remember being chastised because I waited to give my card at the end of a meal.

So what is it guys? Before a session or after? When walking in to a restaurant/bar or when you get the bill?

Cheers.

I believe it is better to be to early than to late when requesting the CRT discount. I always show the card as early as possible. Restaurants get upset if they have prepared the bill and then have to go back and redo it.

By presenting the card first it also alleviates the problem of the establishment saying they no longer honor the discount or saying the manager is not there and they are unaware of the program after you have partaken of the service and are obligated to pay without the discount.

They must not like me at ZB. I have to pay upfront and show my CRT card upfront. :-)

Yes, it is definitely better to whip out the card sooner rather than later. I always show my card at first contact with the waiter, clerk, chica, whatever. At ZB you get your business squared away before you start, which is great so you both can focus on the matter at hand. It's good to get it out there up front at restaurants as well since some waiters won't be familiar with the discount and will need several minutes to get it straight with management. While he's worrying about that you'll be enjoying your meal rather than waiting longer for your check, which always seems to be slow in coming without the additional complication of the "unknown" discount.
