This quote is sad but true. I really don't like being a cold person but sometimes you really wonder if it pays to be nice & caring. Gringas have this problem also I see with men here. If they are nice some guy starts thinking she is coming on to him & then she has to deal with that & all she was doing was being polite. Many women I have seen use the bitch roll as a self defense mechanism or easier way to keep the dogs off. As a general rule I never leave contact info. Not much good to come out of it so why try. You can see why we all get thicker skin & more cynical over time & experience.

Here is another dose of reality. The article more focuses on "sankies" which are Dominican con men. But, it can CERTAINLY be applied to "sankiettes" or any other female prostitute. This phenomenon is not confined only to the Dominican. Anywhere prostitution is rampant, this can be applied.

Zip, I'm coming around to your way of thinking here, where my first instinct was to keep the lines of communication open - why not? But my experience with the two two novias that I Windows IM with on a regular basis proves your point - one who RFMed be soon after my return went all quiet after I shot her down. I was a little triste that the truth reared its ugly head (no mas "bebe mucho te amo") - but better that than be the Schmuck whose name was on those Western Union receipts.(Thanks CRT). The other one won't stop with the "tu pene es muy rico" BS like I'm going to marry her. No honey, I'm not looking for a wife, I keep telling her.

The only value I now see to e-mailing these chicas is to set up activities in advance of a trip, and second, to learn espanol. Other than that, what? The learning curve I guess.
