The websites of Delta and American indicate a sale from ATL to SJO in time for the Labor Day weekend and anniversary party up to but not including Thanksgiving.
ATL to SJO is $ 405 RT with taxes and fees on Delta and $474 on American.
DFW to SJO is $423.
IAH to SJO is $415.
YYC to SJO is CAD 1036.
MSP is $671.
IAD is $542.

Check from your city.

Ace,

This may not be an advertised sale for these airlines, it may be due to price competition as I read about United dropping fares on some routes and other airlines responding.

Be that as it may, AA has a fare sale from ORD / LAX / MIA / JFK / LGA / EWR / SFO / DCA / IAD to SJO until Dec 4. I would not call it great, their sale is tickets for $486 plus taxes ($545) from MIA. At that price, I'd rather spend a few hundred more and go further south.

Tica Fan:

Yahoo has a search engine that searches many carriers and their flights.

I was suprised to find that my airfare for LAX to SJO was $100.00 dollars less (I change planes in DFW) than the DFW/SJO $599.00 cost (with 1 stop in Mexico City via Mexicana) . For a non-stop it quoted around $632.00-$650.00 on multiple carriers. It also seemed strange that my flight #2167 out of DFW 3:15 PM was $632.00 (non-stop to SJO), when my flight was $518.70 (inclduing tax, etc. out of LAX through DFW and onto SJO). I must have hit it during a sale.

Anyway, I hope that the page I am attempting to send will work and be of help.

Health & happiness.

Santas Bro

TicaFan,
and others...

I heard that American had a sale to SJO on Clark Howard's radio program.
I checked and they had it higher than he indicated.
Then I just checked Delta's website and found the unannounced sale there, that beat American's fare.

Travelocity is supposed to notify me by E-mail when there is a drop in price but they did not. I cannot rely on them at all.

I guess I should check Delta's website every morning just like I check A.M. Costa Rica.

Travelocity has not done a good job of reporting dropped features. In fact they were forced to abandon the best fare tracker on international flights by the government as they could not include additional charges such as the fuel surcharges that were added to the ticket price when the customer selected buy. And be careful using Yahoo too as they own Travelocity and embed that as their travel service.

It seems to me that someone could do this right, but apparently not. It's too bad as I used to use this to track flights around the world to destinations that I might want to go to.

I did not get the travelocity fare sale e-mail that they usually send me. When I saw Ace's post I immediately went to AA.com but it came up $586 DFW-SJO plus tax so it was already over. Probably only lasted a few hours

I used Travelocity to check fares until they wouldn't do the international thing any longer. I have found Orbitz to be the best alternative. I select flexible dates and can pull up the cost for everyday for a 30 day period. Yesterday, I found a fare DFW/SJO on Delta for 477 plus tax 560 total. It's a flight I've taken before. I bought a ticket through Orbitz for the 22nd. The same flight on Delta was 140 bucks more. Go figure.
