Jazz, you are right on, if I didn't live in the SF area, I'd consider nothing other than South.

I live among a lot of Latinas (hundreds of thousands), but what sucks is that they aren't willing to date old gringos like they do back home (not even the fat ones are willing!). I sure wish they wouldn't have left this cultural trait back home!

Zippy, your post made me realize that our view of their happy go lucky lifestyle and attitude isn't their view of their lives so I'm not sure our perception of them does them any good. I could be wrong, but I don't think they are any less stressed than Americans. I mean, life isn't easy for natives so I'm not sure why they would be any less stressed than anyone else in the world. But, one could say, like Philo, that since they have so little choice, they just accept what is, but still I'm not sure they actually "feel" that their lives are as we say they are.
