The last time I came back to the states throught Atlanta they were giveing me the third degree.. Why did you travel down there alone? What were you doing? Why did I bring back so much coffee? I was tired and told the inspector, I was hitting the chicas and he laughed then let me go. Remember it's not illegal to monger, make the guys day and give a trip report and the directions to Zona Blue..

So, the question is: Is it illegal for go to CR to boink the ticas? Why not just say you are an eco-sex-tourist as NYCMonger suggests?

No. not per se - however there is a widespread movement among international "civic" organizations to criminalize P4P on the grounds that it promotes exploitation of women and ch*ldren. That really is a serious problem but it has no relation to the sort of business that goes on in CR.

The only existing law on the subject I am aware of is 18 U.S.C. § 2423(b)

Per USDoJ:

18 U.S.C. § 2423(b), is aimed towards prosecution of Ch*ld sex tourists. Section 2423(b) criminalizes traveling abroad for the purpose of engaging in illegal sexual activity with a minor. Currently, successful prosecution under § 2423(b) requires the government to prove that an alleged Ch*ld sex tourist from the United States formed the intent to engage in sexual activity with a Ch*ld prior to meeting the Ch*ld and initiating sexual contact. In other words, a defendant is only punishable under § 2423(b) if he has the intent, while traveling, to engage in sexual activity with minors. Current proposals to eliminate the intent requirement may broaden the government's prosecutorial power by allowing the government to prosecute United States citizens who engage in sexual acts with Ch*ldren while abroad, regardless of when they formed the intent to do so.

FWIW

I think this whole thing is a bit over-blown. There is no conspiracy, but, OTOH if you want an instant ass-whole, just give some people a badge and some authority and stand back. And no, I don't have a badge (but I did at one time  )

I once witnessed a female Immigration/Customs person send two different people back to read a sign 4 feet in front of her booth because they got to her and did not have the correct documents ready to present to her (Royal Highness). What a bee-atch!

I believe that there are several critical times to be nice to certain people, and making a border crossing is one of those times. I try to be nice to La Migra, Airline Attendants, cops, movers, front desk attendants, and anyone else, who, however briefly, may hold some critical sway over my situation. TBSD.

It is interesting that the last post stated the international community, lets just say it is the pressure from the U.S. to presure the international community to make Prositiustion illegal. The U.S. will use economic means to make their point on any thing they want to enforce.
How ever this has been going on for years now and I hope that CR and many other countries will not fall to the knees of the international community on this situation. If the U.S. had it their way they would prosecute all U.S. citizens in forgien countrys that participate in prostitution. This is all do to the feminist movement in the U.S. and the feminist organization that put the pressure on your local goverment officals.
Pura Vida! :D

I was questioned frequently until the immigration officer asked me if I had property in Costa Rica. I said yes and after that I have never been asked again.

I do think some of the officers like to break balls over guys going down to CR for pu*sy.

KC,
My situation was very similar. After my first 7 or 8 trips to CR in one year, the immigration/customs guys (in Miami) started giving me the 3rd degree, every time I returned.

Then, 4 or 5 trips later, one of the agents asked me if I owned any real estate in CR. Once I informed him that I owned some homes there, he must of put it into the system, because I have not been hassled, whatsoever, coming back from my last few trips.

Like TimBones said....I ALWAYS try to be nice to the agents, regardless. If they choose to, they have the ability to ruin your day! ...And they know it!

MG

The feminist movement in the U.S. is for all intent and purposes dead. Their influence is precisely ziltch. Their agenda just happens to be the same as Jerry Farwell, Pat Robertson, and all the rest of the thumpers.

Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah has been riding the "let's moralize the world" movement for many years and is personally responsible for introducing some of the most restrictive legislation in the Congress. Orrin's message is apparently, "if it feels good, we've got to put a stop to it." :-)

Take a look at the candidates running for office at the county, city and state level and you'll be amazed at how many feel the need to tell us all about their "family values" in their ad campaigns.

The politicians idea of the Commandment "Thou shall not steal" is interpreted as "Thou shall not accept money from Jack Abramov (anymore)"

Sidebar: I just tried to find what commandment that is and discovered that there is not even general agreement as to the order of the commandments, and that while most people say they espouse them, few (including the congressman who recently introduced the legislation allowing for public display) could even name them.

This message is bought and paid for by a non-partisen, non-sectarian member of the Immoral Minority. :-)

You know it concerns me when we are closer to the beliefs of our stated enemy than our allies :(

Who has a stronger opinion against prostitution europe asia or Al Queda(sp)?

A "boiler room" is generally referred to as a place of business in where lots of outgoing sales calls are made. These calls are usually made by high pressure sales people, selling anything from securities to identity theft insurance etc..etc... Most likely you will hear alot of background noise because these "salespeople" are in a bullpen area with no privacy.

Europe is not an allie (at least not Western Europe). They just come begging when someone starts whooping their arse.

I thought we got rid of the Taliban/Al Qaeda so we could see what their hotties look like without those burkas
