Hey guys - I haven't been around in a while but just browsing I see some of the same names here, so some of you may recognize me.
I've "held court" with Vegas Bob many nights at the Del Rey so some here may even know me in person.

Anyway, I was wondering if much has changed in the past year. I'll read up here but I am headed down on a very spontaneous last minute trip in the next week or so and would appreciate a heads-up on any big news.

If you are staying at the presidente, make sure your companion is dressed from head to toe, and be very carefull walking from the del rey to the prez. Most everything else is the same.

Other members have reported that Las Margaritas nightclub is really happening right now. There's a new CRT VIP goody at Bar Idem: VIP's get their second cocktail or beer free. Just the second one, not every other one. The CRT 3rd Anniversary is coming up on Sept. 3, with new activities (poker tournament, volunteer jam session at SL) as part of the festivities.

The robbery situation continues to be bothersome. Taxi fares have increased quite a bit, but now the licensed cabbies are supposed to wear a sort of uniform.

The Amon Plaza had some problems, including enacting an expensive chica guest fee ($25.00), but for the time being big discounts are being ofered on room stays through Nixon Netto at the casino, and there's no chica fee.

Circus has launched his new venture, "Circus' Cardboard Inns" (tm) for budget-minded travelers.

Sportsmen's Lodge has a recently completed addition and continues to offer a high level of service, although many of the faces have changed.

Casa Vino continues to get great reviews. At a discounted CRT VIP price of $110.00/night, the Executive Suite may be the best bargain for space and amenities away from the Gulch, and it's almost on top of Zona Blue.

Zona Blue by the way is set to open its own luxurious hotel suites. And, they have the occasional fist-fight. JK. Eddie continues to be a fine host and boss-man, but sadly Carol is no longer behind the bar. Yee (Gee?) is behind the bar now, and a very nice lady.

Arias has been reelected President of the Republic.

Some Colombianas actually have the ovaries to ask $150.00 - $200.00 ST at the Blue Marlin.

Bar Sancaa, a local tico place has gotten some press. Farol Rojo is no longer an MP; it's now a ST hotel called "Hotel La Oficina."

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Oh yeah, one more thing. Californicationdude is still a wretched butthole.

I absolutley remember you Paco Loco. Same goes for dapanz. I think it was my second trip down and I remember wandering around the Del Rey like a lost puppy asking folks if they were PacoLoco or dapanz from CRT.

What was I doing in Mexico and Brazil? Having too much of a good time. I experienced a broad range of things from the high of partying with some famous folks in Rio (a federal judge, soap actress, real estate developer) to the low of witnessing a cop's murder in Mexico. Rio was really cool because of the contacts we had down there. Also, the girls were high quality, inexpensive, and were hard to get rid of. TLN for 150 Reals which at the time was maybe $75 and they would want to hang out all day the next day. My buddy is famous with the girls at Luomo so we had a few nights where some girls went out with us after. If you know Luomo then you know it is a treat to get one of those girls outside of the club. It's kinda like getting one of the bar tenders at the Key Largo or DR to go on a date with you except the Luomo girls are even hotter. Just imagine kicking back on CopaCabana beach with one of your best friends and four amazing Brasiladas drinking Caiphirinas (sp?) and talking about sex politics and other goodies in a mix of English, Spanish and Portuguese. Afterward we head back to our apartment with the one who was playing footsie with me under the table and another who he has some kind of crazy relationship with. OK I'm rambling. I'm really lazy about posting trip reports but I will get those up in the VIP trip report section as soon as admin1 replies to my email to renew my VIP membership.
