If your question is limited in scope as to what financial benefits there are check out this thread:

https://costaricaticas.com/memberdiscounts.pdf

However, the bigger issue is the support of the board. There are expenses incurred in running a board the size of this one and by being a paying member you help offset those costs which allows members, both paying and non paying, to gather invaluable information about Costa Rica.

I would not feel comfortable accessing the knowledge base available here with out contributing to the financial well being of the board. That however is my personal feeling and you have to decide what you are comfortable with.

Yes. The benefits are many.

1. You support this website, which is arguably the Number 1 source of information for gentlemen travelers to C.R.

2. Access to the Photo Galleries, learn to spot the hot, the not, and the treacherous. Avoid the bad ones.

3. Access to the V.I.P. Forum. Mucho inside information.

4. Access to Prolijo's excellent map of San Jose, showing all the spots. Access to G.R.'s excellent map of San Jose, showing all the spots, formatted for easy printing.

5. A shitload of discounts, including reduced room rates at the Sportsmen's Lodge, Casa vino and other great hotels in San Jose,
hotel discounts in Jaco Beach,
restaurant discounts of 10% or more,
free strip club admissions, free drinks,
Transportation services/ATV tours/fishing discounts,
Reduced rates from G. y G. *******,
even a substantial discount on hourly sessions at Zona Blue, San Jose's best massage parlor close to the Gulch.

6. Invitations to V.I.P.-only events, such as the CRT 3rd Anniversary Party over Labor Day weekend.

7. A snazzy avatar of the Costa Rican flag under your user handle.

8. The admiration of your fellow V.I.P.s. :D

Yes. Join. I've been a member for two years and will continue to renew. The card will pay for itself on your first visit to C.R. I think my cash benefits from using the card came to over $200.00 on my last trip. YMMV of course, but the discounts are great.

YO VIP:
Yea, it's a nice gig if you are fortunate enough to be given VIP membership. I had always wanted to be among the elite but with my ex-con past and unsultry practices in my past I am not allowed in the VIP status. I certainly could have used it with my meager hand out gov. income and living in unsavory conditions.

Best you get that membership.....it will pay for it's self in one trip.

I've been drinking vodka every day for 45 years and I have certainly never found it to be habit forming.
