Just a tip fo AAdvantage miles hogs like myself. I travel form Dallas and it seems AAlines is adding seats on some of the Costa Rica routes and maybe outhers as well. They have added a morning departure and afternoon return trip to San Jose on Tuesdays and Saturdays with airmiles seats available starting around the first of the year available through March. I have yet to use miles for a Costa Rica trip but with fares rising it makes more sense and these flights are an ideal schedule giving you a good part of a day on the arival and departure day. Bottom line is new seats are popping up for airmiles to San Jose both soon and out in the future so if you have miles worth a look.rbc100

I used AA miles for my trip back in May/June. I had to overnite in Miami on the way down, but had only 9 hrs 15 mins travel time on the way back. Really messed things up with a Heart Attack in Miami on the way down...but they were cool and boarded me when I could fly again with an available empty seat.

I live in Ftlauderdale, there are two daily flights out of Miami on AA, I tried in June to book a ticket for late Oct, no seats avail. This is the third time I tried to use the air miles. I believe unless you book a full 6 months in advance you'er S.O.L getting a seat. This pisses me off. I'll just buy a damn ticket.
meanwhile the miles just keep adding up

Not so. I booked mine with only 3 weeks notice. It has everything to do with available seats designated for "Advantage". It seems that they will fly with empty seats before they will give them up to an advantage member. I do believe they will let you fly standby with an advantage ticket.

I have never had a problem getting a FF seat.Call the AA number.IF you still do not get a seat, ask to speak to a supervisor.Tell them your going down for medical or dental.Or you can check out the AA partner airlines. You can use your miles on the others.Dale Ray

Good to hear they are adding more flights from DFW…because they cut the flights from LAX!!!

I have been trying to book a weekend in CR with my FF miles for the last 18 months with no luck…the weekends are full through April at this point with the connections I have to make…But I did just get a FF booking for next Memorial Day weekend, bet those seats are all gone by now.

TACA is getting my business lately, even with their carry-on restrictions. TACA also dropped AA as it’s FF partner and went to UAL…or did AA drop Taca? :D
