Another CRT member passed this on to me a while back.

http://www.pandora.com

You can select an artist or song and it will begin building music for you. I sit all day at work (like right now) with my headphones on and just let it go. It also lists the artist, song and CD so you can hear music you might not have ever found. This is all done with NO commericals, just music.

If you hear something you don't like you can reject it and it won't play it again. You can build entire "stations" of your own desires.

For a suggestion select "Marc Antoine" (latin jazz) then just sit back and enjoy the tunes.

BUMMER...

Dear Pandora Visitor,

We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.

We believe that you are in Panama (your IP address appears to be -----). If you believe we have made a mistake, we apologize and ask that you please contact us at pandora-support@pandora.com

If you are a paid subscriber, please contact us at pandora-support@pandora.com and we will issue a pro-rated refund to the credit card you used to sign up. If you have been using Pandora, we will keep a record of your existing stations and bookmarked artists and songs, so that when we are able to launch in your country, they will be waiting for you.

We will be notifying listeners as licensing agreements are established in individual countries. If you would like to be notified by email when Pandora is available in your country, please enter your email address below. The pace of global licensing is hard to predict, but we have the ultimate goal of being able to offer our service everywhere.

We share your disappointment and greatly appreciate your understanding.

Sincerely,

Tim Westergren
Founder

Yep, can't get Pandora in Colombia either.
A real shame. I'm listening to Tito Nieves as I type this at work. It's the only thing that will drown out the guy across the aisle.

You have a couple options to get around this. You can open a VPN connection back into the States. While normally this requires that you VPN back to a server in the US, there are free services that allow this. Hotspot Shield is one I just read about this weekend but never have used it. Gets good reviews and allows you to hit US sites.

The other option is to use an open proxy so it looks like you are coming out of the US. You can also find a paid proxy service which would be more reliable.

I personally would try the VPN route first since proxies tend to be slow with a capital S.

Hope that helps!

Thanks wit:

I tried to get some music but a message came back saying that all of the artists I was seeking are dead and are not performing anymore. Not to mention, I am on the "old coots can't get any" list.

Guess I'll just have to listen to my scratchy 78 speed records.

Things are just popping here in the Pits of Jax.

Hotspot shield works just fine. I use it all the time and I live in San Jose. All you have to do is launch it anytime you want to listen to Pandora. You can disconnect from it when you are through.
