I use to stay at the Presidente, but with all the rules,I now stay at the Sleep Inn. Perfect location and they never charge the $25 chica fee.
This hasn't been my understanding of that place, though I must admit I've never really considered staying there myself because of the "possible" chica policies. My understanding was that the gerencia is deadset against prostitution in the Gulch. My questions for you, Barry, would be the following:

How regularly do you bring chicas back to the Sleep Inn?
Are you walking in with a different face each time more than once a day or are you more infrequently seen with a regular?

What time of day are you pulling this off?
Do you even stop by the front desk or are you sneaking these girls past while they're not really noticing?

Do they look like the type of chicas that the Prez would turn away or could they pass as non-pro's? And what do you look like? If you're an old fart with a young hottie in a miniskirt then it may be pretty obvious what you're there for but if you are young yourself and the chica is wearing ordinary street clothes it may not be so obvious.

Yes, the services at Morazan have been hit or miss for years now...well documented on old threads here. Its a good value for the neighborhood...and I think they advertise (at least as of a few months ago) a $39 night special in the paper and elsewhere. They used to be packed with a lot of us staying there...but with missing simple services, not honoring reservations, and sometime charging chica fees...they lost many of us. Ah well...its a Tico run operation and shows it. For the $50 CRT rate, I still think Presidente is a much better deal. I dont usually take girls to my room anyways.

Are you talking about the same Morazan? It's literally in the same block, next door to the KL, only in the next block from the BM. If that walk is not safe, seems getting from the door of the BM to a cab could be dangerous.
Ask Circus if he thinks it's safe to walk to the Morazon. He got tag teamed right in front of the Morazon by a "gang of muggers" of the type that only Circus could experience  ... and that was quite some time ago. I can't imagine things have gotten any better. Yes it can be dangerous just walking out the door of the HDR to catch a cab unless you have a stick to beat off all the beggars, drugpushers and riffraff. And that is just to make it as far as all those rip-off taxis by the curb. Stepout on to the street to catch a normal cab and you subject yourself to the experience even longer until a cab comes along.

Wow. I feel so brave having spent a week making the perilous walk between the BM and the Prez! I walked those few blocks a lot in May without any problems. Would you really take a cab a block from the BM to the KL/Morazon? A cab from the KL to the Morazon? :!:

Yeah...judging by the tone of some of the posts on here, I'd be a little leery of making that walk, even though it's not very far....is that parking lot between Morazan & the BM still there? I was very aware of the possibilities of an ambush from that direction, although I didn't have any problems. And I sure as hell wasn't approached by any drug pushers or beggars!! Just the shoe-shine K*ds during the day....

Are honestly telling me you would take a cab one block from the BM to the Morazon :?:

That's where I will be one night this next trip, and I walked that many times in May. I do believe I will make the walk this trip too.

No, what I'm saying is that everyone takes a certain risk walking in and out of the HDR/BM whether they take a cab or not, because they allow so many god-damned beggars, peddlers, conmen, pickpockets and mugger scouts to hang out smack dab in front of their front door where they can harass, harangue, grope and otherwise bother the HDR/BM's customers as they go in or out. By the time you shake off all the assorted riffraff and crook cabbies and get in a legitimate cab to go to the Morazon you could be halfway there so you might as well walk.

I'd like to think I don't have to....but the reality is, the Ticos see us as marks, & there have been incidents.

On another note, is the Morazan still pulling the scam where they've got a huge banner advertising $35 a night, but charging $55 or whatever?

Cyrano;
You might want to give us an address in the states so we know where to send the body.

Have you been reading about the attacks in the past couple of months? :?

Just think, with all the money you save on cabs, you might be able to get a session at 747 or something, if you don't get killed.

Ok I got to chime in since I started this thread and it had nothing to do with the above

Obviously Cyrano is not going to change his mind. He has his own style and own mindset, and IMHO does not think very highly of the kind of ladies most of us hang out with or even how we dress. So seriously why dont you guys let him be and do his own thing his way. Its all good, we arent going to change him. Just my 2 cents, no offense meant to any one person

You seemed to signoff off with your interests being met pretty early on:

The discussion here seemed to flow pretty well. You seem to be the one with the problems. Did you want the thread to die once you got what you wanted? If not, just where did you want the thread to go? Where is any evidence that I hijacked it from you? You should take it as a compliment that your inquiry brought out so much information.

Just where did you get that idea? I posted a trip report from my May visit in the VIP section. People can judge for themselves. If I don't like the ticas, why am I going back? Is there a dress code that I have to follow to make you comfortable? :?
