One more thing nobody has mentioned here. If you can do it, choose machines where you swipe your card or do the in-out, rather than those that require you to insert it. If there are problems with the latter type of machine, you will lose your card and getting it back is close to impossible in a reasonable amount of time. the HDR machine to the right of the desk is one that doesn't ingest your card.

One MORE more thing. Why would anybody want to use dollars in Costa Rica? The exchange rate is SO simple now to do a conversion that anybody should be able to convert in their heads from colones to dollars, for pricing purposes. You generally get worse prices with dollars anyway.
