I booked my next flight to Costa Rica in October today using the frequent flyer miles from AA's recent promotion with Citicard. It cost 30k miles and $30.22 in tax/fees.

Thank you RBC100 for posting the info on the promotion. It has paid off for me. With the low cost of the flight, my deal on the room at the Prez and already a couple ladies lined up it looks to be another great adventure!

Yes RBC thanks a million bro. I used the miles for a trip to St. Maarten and it cost me 50 bucks! Those miles really do come in handy. Wish I could come back to SJO but duty calls.

RBC,
PLease give us a report when you return from Peru. I'm getting very interested in that as a new destination.

He made a trip report a couple months (?) ago when he returned from his first visit.

Peru seems like an interesting place to check out. The quality of girls from what I can see seems to be LOWER, but perhaps its just a bad representation by the pictures?

I just booked my Labor Day trip on TACA thru AA (using 35K AA miles) and taxes of $25.22 + $15 fee = $40.22, saved $508. :D

I use the extra 5K to get a nonstop 5hr flight versus that shitty layover in Miami (and possible luggage issues) and a total of 7-9 hours, at best.

it's always possible, but I've flown Taca for the last 3 trips, no problems yet.

Taca has been more efficient than AAlines when I have flown them. AAlines is always late out of Dallas. rbc100

I have been trying to use my FF miles from AM EX (Delta) for over four years. They never have anything open. They told me that I needed to book a year in advance. Do to the recent increase in fares out of Charloote I called (mostly out of curiosity) to see if they had a flight using my FF miles for Labor Day the lady at first laughed a little then acting surprised said they did indeed have an open seat. $40 plus change and I'm on my way. Lucky me.

Xman, are you calling Delta? I have noticed it is impossible to get the 30K/35K seats on the web. If you call and ask what is available they can usually find something. Might not be when you want but saves the 35K miles you would otherwise have to use.

As for Taca from New York, it's 30,000 or 35,0000 depending what time of year you fly. The direct flight JFK-SJO is almost never delayed.

Sansa does or did take FF miles, it's under Taca Regional.
