Hey El and musicians, I think a lot of us look forward to this.

I'm sure a lot of you are very talented musicians/singers.

(can't be worse than some of the bands already performing in CR)

Rocco...you are really going back a long time now. But boy that was a great couple of summers in Saugatauk. Best USA mongering time of my life. Lots of boat people, pretty girls, and yes, music. You bring back good memories  ...

When will we see you down here again?

I'd sure like to hear this group jam. However, I myself will not participate as the only instrument I played was the skin flute and the only paying customer was my parish priest.

El C,

Put me down for Guitar and Bass. I currently play in a band (play 5 - 8 times per year at local pubs, clubs, etc. We play the same music types you mention in your original thread (minus the country - although I'm OK with it).

Here is a set list for this Saturday night: Take it Easy - Eagles, Can't You See - Marshall Tucker, Love Me Two Times - Doors, Walk the Blues - Original, Spooky - Classics IV, Change the World - Eric Clapton, Wrapped Around Your Finger - Police, Bell Bottom Blues - Derrick and the Dominos, Pride and Joy - Stevie Ray Vaughn, Story In Your Eyes - Moody Blues, Badge - Cream, Done Somebody Wrong - Elmore James, Get Ready - Rare Earth, I Feel Good - James Brown, Mustang Sally - Wilson Pickett, Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues, Down to the Waterline - Dire Straits, Dixie Chicken - Little Feat, Feelin' Alright - Dave Mason Version, Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones, Runaway - Del Shannon, Saw Her Standing There - Beatles, Little Wing - Hendrix, Whipping Post - Allman Brothers, Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits, Bermuda Breeze - Original, Voodoo Ch*ld - Hendrix, Standing on Shaky Ground - Delbert McClinton, Play that Funky Music - Wild Cherry, I Am the Walrus - Beatles, CCR Medley (Suzie Q, Green River, Born on a Bayou) - Creedence.., Oye Como Va - Santana, No Matter What - Badfinger, Dreams - Allman Brothers, Closer to Home - Grand Funk Railroad, Hot 'Lanta - Allman Brothers, Baby What'd I Say - Ray Charles, Hold On I'm Comin - Sam and Dave, Black Magic Woman - Santana, Evil Ways - Santana, Middle of the Road - Pretenders, Hotel California - Eagles
Stormy Monday - Allman Brothers version.

I read slowly, read TAB with no problem, etc....

Although fun, I don't care how good everyone is, without some type of rehearsal, this thing may end up sounding like one big clusterf*ck.

Get Rhythm - I hope you can play just based off your screen name!

Unfortunately, I haven't planned on being there Labor Day weekend. I am going to be there for 8-days at the end of Sept. where I don't have to compete for chicas with all the multitude of VIP'ers.

Hell, I just left the place a couple days ago, and I'm already trying to figure out how I can be there for the party and go back 3 weeks later!

Can anyone loan me a few C-notes. I'm good for it.

OK Guys. Think we might have some players--Now WHERE AND WHEN? Someone might throw us out if things get to out of hand. A rehersal? Maybe------------NAAAAAAAAAAA 8) . A good jam is what it's about. If anyone has a suggestion on a place and time----that would be a start.

I have a feeling Bill at Sportsmens Lodge would be happy to have the jam. Maybe a happy hour bash in the big courtyard/fountain area? He's even got a stage the girls dance on sometimes. I vote for Saturday happy hour for this event...maybe 5-8PM, something like that?

I vote for Sunday, in conjunction with the Anniversary bash. Many members will be at the beach for that weekend, i.e., Jaco, Flamingo, Quepos, Manuel Antonio, etc.... returning Sunday for the party. But EVERYONE will be in SJO on Sunday 9/3! My dos colones... :)
Mucho Gusto

The stage at Sportsman's sounds COOL. If anyone happens to talk to Bill see what he thinks! I am going to call myself and see if I can get a room there for 3rd,4th Sept, I already have the 5th and 6th.Keep me from moveing 3 times. They don't know me from Adam since this will be my 1st trip. So someone that knows Bill might have better response. :D

YO Jam Jocks:

I just hope that my opera singing will go with your music. Also I hope that Tman will use an attractive candelabra on the piano.....touch of class. Perhaps Handy has one we can use. Yep, I can see this event coming around. I've been goggling with my mini vodkas getting ready for my CRT debut.

Well, the level of interest is amazing. I was looking more to put together a list for future events but was not thinking of just the Labor Day weekend.

Speaking just for myself, I'll probably be far too occupied during the Labor Day Weekend to play any musical instrument other than my upright organ.

Stinky, your songlist sounds 80% like my most recent gig. I'm sure that most of us could practice separately with a songg/key list, but do any of us really want to spend time during that busy weekend practicing/playing music? B-sides, our music wouldn't impress the young lovelies, most of whom seem hopelessly addicted to the evil Reggaetone. :P

It's up to you all, but I think we're all gonna be too busy, drunk, postcoital, mid-coital and/or pre-coital to think about making music.

But yeah, I'll be bringing the infernal melodica, this year fitted with a pickup.

I dont see many other opportune times that all these guys would hit SJO the same time. The annual bash seems the best time to have such a jam. Come on...after 2-3 hits a day...how much more sex can you want. Personally, I hope to get some chica mileage out of this jam session. You'd be surprised how many of our tunes some of these chicas know  .

Tman...good point. We may not get this chance again. So...you're volunteering your keyboard? Hey, I thought you were going to be in Panama? :?

Let's put together a short list of tunes (2 sets worth?) with keys. Practice up. Then we'll all be brilliant when we jam...

MG,

I would have been a great drummer...except I was always just a beat off... :P

Perhaps Bilko will allow us the use of some of his gear? Maybe we can as a group (musicians, not the VIP's) could rent some gear for that jam? Thoughts to consider.

Yes, my stuff is available for whatever. I also know a guy who plays drums down here and supposedly (never heard him) is very good who would probably be interested. He has a kit, I'm almost positive. PM me, whoever needs to.
