Just when we thought that chicas were already gorging on US fast foods and getting heavier this news hits.
Cinnabon, Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins all are getting to ready to open outlets in Costa Rica.
From Inside Costa Rica, Saturday June 17, 2006:
Quote:
Wendy’s and Cinnabon Soon in Costa Rica
U.S. fast food chains Wendy´s and Cinnabon are to start operations here towards the end of next July.
Wendy’s will open the first of 14 restaurants on Central Avenue, while Cinnabon will do so at Multiplaza in Escazu.
In the next couple of years, Baskin Robbins and Dunkin Donuts will start operations here, according to Nubia Torres, marketing manager for these two firms.
The increase in U.S fast food franchises in Costa Rica is mainly due to Costa Ricans thirst for American fast food. McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut are well entrenched in the Costa Rican market.
A KFC restaurant that sells a chicken sandwich, for example, at almost double the cost of a 1/2 chicken meal at a "coffee wood" chicken roaster, is always packed while the "chicken roaster" struggles to get customers to come in.
