About half the advertisements on the cable TV here in Atlanta were in Spanish.

I guess that shows who was watching the game here.

And what is FIFA :?:

I googled it and found out.

Federation Internationale de Football Association

They could not make up their minds to use English, Italian or Spanish.

To me FOOTBALL involves a pigskin. Nothing else.

I just discovered that the Crystal water bottlers put out a special bottle with a soccer ball on it.

Most Ticos seem pretty happy with yesterdays game. It was not a blow out. It easily could have been 4-0 as Le Sele had very few shots on goal.

Next thursdays game with ecuador is the big one. The Ticos win and they have an good chance of advancing. The Ticos lose and most likely it is over.

I say Ticos 2 ecuador 1 and I predict le sele advances into the second round.

Germany's plays a really speedy aggressive style of play. Their team doenst really have much for talent.

Costa Rica simply put has no chance.

Go Orange Army! Or the Spaniards!

Spains not even starting Raul! Like WTF? And Morientes isnt even on the team??

I personally dont think Brazil is going to win

Doesn't have much talent??? You must be kidding. They are trying to play aggressive with a trapping defense which cost them dearly. If they do not quit the trap they have no chance. But Germany has a lot of talent.

I wish I was in Ecuador last night. I bet that was a hell of a party. :D

I just read that Michael Ballack might return for Germany's next game.

Also, Wayne Rooney, the twenty(?) year old phenom for England might play in their next game.

Does anyone know if Claudio Reyna is definitely out for the US in tomorrow's game against Czech.? Is he out for the entire tournament?

Jmacaula...I wouldn't lay too much money against Brazil if I were you.

Compared to other European, and South American clubs, no Germany doesnt have alot of talent. They have a system that works, and they have youth that is capable of making the system work. Im not saying their morons, but they dont have any Ronaldo's, or Figo's running around.

We'll see how Brazil does once the round robin is done. They arent going to dominate like they did last WC

Definitely not the case. I watched the entire game at the Del Rey Lobby bar and had at least 5 beers...

Government did not ban bars from serving during the game. Normal legal opening hour for bars in CR is 11:00 AM. What the government did was not waive that opening time so they could start serving when the game started.

As to the HDR serving earlier, establishments holding "tourist" licenses, such as the HDR, are not regulated under the same law as local bars. They were able to serve legally during the entire game.
