Now that tourists are allowed to carry photo copies of their passports (in lieu of the actual passport) with the CR entry stamp on it, is there a convienent location to get said photo copy in CR? I always carry photo copies of my passport but that is worthless in CR without the entry stamp. Does anyone know if the Del Rey or any of the other hotels will make a photo copy for me upon check in?

Directly across from the rail at the News Cafe and about 2 doors up to the left is a copy shop. They will make a laminated, color, business card size copy of your passport and date stamp page for 400 colones.

Bringing a photo copy of the info page is not a problem. Most Immigration officers at the airport will very gladly stamp the photo copy as well as your passport if you ask them.

However having a color photo copy made of the info page and entry stamp, shrunk to CC size and laminated is the best way to go.

They will do it at Sportsmen Lodge reception desk, but I was charged 1,000¢ ($2) for this over Memorial Day weekend. It only costs about 400¢ (less than $1) in the copy shop across from the Prez.
