I'm at the Presidente right now typing this from the lobby and I can asure everyone reading this board that the dress code policy is in full effect and being strictly enforced. As I was checking in on Friday a board member's chica was being denied access although I felt her attire did not differ from any other female guest staying at the hotel. The Presidente does not want mongers parading chicas in and out of the lobby all day and night (especially during the day hours when more guest are checking in and families are more prevalent).

Sure but it sounds like Presidente security knows who the guests and hookers are and are hassling the girls even if dressed like guests or non-working girls.

Personally I am bit tired of this topic that keeps re-appearing like a bad case of herpes.... This topic has been covered over and over again.
Do they enforce the polciy poorly probably but its their hotel and they can do with it what they wish.

Its simple you have a problem with any establishment, you don't like a restaruant, an airline, a hotel YOU USE AN ALTERNATIVE... If enough business is directed elsewhere due to policy perhaps it will change perhaps it will not.

To continually berate a particular place because they institute a policy then enforce it as they wish....well its tiresome to read. If you read the original part of this this thread the Headline reads DRESS CODE Strictly enforced then you read, well these two girls "Hookers" dressed like hookers come up to the gate, make a scene etc etc etc...

I'm personally tired of the Pres bashing and I'm not a particular frequent guest there, so I'm not sticking up for the Hotel for any personal reasons. If you don't like the place STAY ELSEWHERE and stop all the rest. You spending your $$ elsewhere is the best way to show your anger.

Agreed Capo, and why I said -

The current updates are useful and hopefully this thread won't turn into the same discussion and bitching we already had in that thread.
I for one appreciate the current updates from those down there now so we know what to expect in a couple days and be prepared. 4 of us have already discussed if we're unfairly hassled we'll be going to plan B and switching hotels. We have no problem complying with the policy and if a chica is not allowed in due to her clothing I'm prepared to take her to a short term hotel without getting upset over it. However if happens repeatedly and we feel our novias are just being denied entry for other reasons (age difference, certain chicas being singled out, guard on a power trip, etc..) we'll be checking out.

I swear to god if I get hassled for having a chica thats MY AGE, Im going to go nuts.

In all honesty do they not look outside at what locals are wearing??

As for complaints. How would any eco bitch know if shes me girlfriend or not? Because she dress's appealing, shes automatically a whore?

Jmacaula... I understand your frustration. I myself booked my room way back in January, and had no problem then with my Domincan wearing little and nothing. Never did I think that in just four days I might have to change hotels because of a BS dress code. Changing hotels can be said easier then done.
Maybe I should had been living , eating , and breathing this board, that way I would have been sure to have read the post about the problems being encountered, but I simply do not have the time.

Live and learn....Pooter 8)8)8)

Yet, the holy shrine still won't be abandoned. All the fuss over a hotel that is marginal at best. Only reason to stay is laziness, as it is in the middle of everything. I swear I'll never figure it out in a month of Sundays. Rooms are passable and I stayed there once or twice in the past. But I've never found the staff to have any customer service whatsoever. Not counting the News Cafe. Love the staff there. One time I checked in and they acted like I was doing them a favor.

I agree with PacoLoco - this thread was meant as an update.

My friend's chica was dressed very nicely! She had a very nice top on and a jean skirt with a nice big fashionable belt and buckle. Her skirt wasn't overly short in the least.

I posted this because I was shocked at how strict the policy has become. If my friend's chica was dressed like a hooker then I would not have posted his experience since this would not have been so shocking. Another thing about my friend and his chica is that they are close in age - she is around 26 and he is 30 so it wasn't even the old man, young chica thing that affect entry.

I know it won't do any good to bitch about the policy. It is better to focus on how to best prepare to meet the policy's expectations (if you want to stay at the Prez).

***********

I did witness something funny as a result of this - I saw my friend's chica about 4 nights afterwards and her skirt was nearly passed her knees!!!! :)

I was the CRT'r that was mentioned in the begining of this post. (thanks again D2864 for the try) As stated, the girls would not listen to us to wait outside while we went upstairs to get something for them to wear. So we decided to let them learn the hard way and as expected, they got rejected by security. I ended up taking the irls to the Asia hotel for a quickie and checked out of the Prez the next day and made sure to let them know at the front desk as to why I left.

One option for those who stay at the Prez and pull a chica out of the Blue Marlin is to buy a $7 Blue Marlin tee shirt to let her wear on the way in and out of the Prez.

One difference I did notice between the March policy letter and the May email was:
- Avoid sleeveless tops

What's up with that? Have they not noticed they are in a tropical climate?
That would ellimate about 90% of females under the age of 30 regardless of their profession.

I guess that's why the knucklehead guard was hasslng my date a couple weeks ago about her almost floor-length dress because it didn't have sleeves.

One thing you should keep in mind, the final word is the manager's not the guard's. If you feel your date's apparel is reasonable ask to speak to the manager on duty. But if you have any hopes of getting her in you should present your case as a mature adult and a GUEST of the hotel and of Costa Rica, otherwise you're wasting your time.

I do not understand this, I mean why not just find a different hotel? Does not appear that this place wants your business anymore so why fight it? Nothing personal but this has my curiousity. Guess some people have fallen in love with this place and do not want to let go.... I sure would not bother when there are other hotels willing to accomodate my needs.

I don't stay at the Presidente any more and don't understand why others do. They don't want our business. If all the CRT and other sites stop using them, they at most would be running a 35% occupancy rate.

The reason why this topic keeps coming up is that some of our members haven't been down there since this rule has taken affect and they have heard about it, but really didn't give it that much thought.

It true... the rule is here to stay, so I am staying other places.

I seriously doubt that 35% figure.

If they wanted to get rid of the CRT'ers, all they have to do is institute a chica fee. Period and end of story.

I'm headed down late June and already have a spa suite reserved, and I realize what my date should or shouldn't wear and I am ready to play by their rules. The important thing is to know the rules.........which seems to be the problem. Either the guys don't know or don't care.

This Presidente crap has been posted ad nauseam for the past few months. OK, your chica needs to be dressed like a lady, you know it, either see it is done or take a tour to the Hotel Asia for a couple of hours.

IMHO, as far as Costa Rica goes, the Presidente is a classy hotel and I have enjoyed my several stays there. If I owned a hotel like this, I would also have some sort of dress code, however I would see that it is properly followed by everybody, from security to manager. If my hotel is filled up with 30% Euro hikers, 20% Americans on business , 20% eco tourists, I would not want a bunch of 40-60 year old men hanging out with 20 somethings with tits hanging out and ass cheeks showing. I would be OK with bare stomachs and sleeveless shirts.

I can't help but wonder if some of this is a power play by security guards making a year what some rich Americans make a month.

I went back and read admin's thread on the Presidente and I have full faith in him running interference for us.

I guess discretion is the key word. It's OK to take in chicas, but just be discrete about it.

I don't want to be the result of some father telling his 12 year old son/daughter what a 50 year old gringo is fixing to do to some 20 something lil hotty chica, by her clothing and/or actions or by my actions.
