Just a fair warning that they are very strict.

My buddy just 2 days ago couldn't get his chica in because her skirt was too short. I saw her - she was dress very nicely and I would have never imagined that she would have a problem entering. She didn't appear to be a hooker in the least. My buddy asked the guard if it was okay to run for clothing upstairs and the guard flat out said no way.

Another thing happened... last night a CRTer at the SL wanted to get 2 chicas from the SL in the Presidente so I was going to sign one in for him. Both chicas looked like hookers so I told both chicas to wait across the street until we could run upstairs for clothes to slip over what they were wearing. Chicas are very very very hard-headed!!!!!!!!! They ticked me off, because they ignored me and pushed their way to the front gate so the guard sees them and it is all over. Once the guard sees them, in my experience, it is too late to run for clothes. The chicas have to live and learn I guess - no double date for them because the guard turned them away even after a 5 employee hurdle on the matter. Management is backing the guard's decision.

Anyway, if you need to get a poorly dressed chica into the Presidente, run to get clothes but do not let her near the gate! Also, if you are bringing in a TLN and she is poorly dressed and gets in with your clothes, if she goes to breakfast with you, don't forget to dress her in your clothes again for breakfast. Also, even when no TLN, have poorly dressed chicas dressed in your clothes when exiting the Presidente. They don't want these girls seen at any time - before or after the dirty deed.

The crazy thing is that the SL chicas acted as if they are embarrassed to put on clothes over their own and last night, the chica I brought back for TLN and who was poorly dressed and who got in with my clothes also laughed and giggled at putting on my clothes. You try to assist them and they take it as if it isn't serious.

Someone mentioned on another post to bribe the guard in one way or another. I "DO NOT" think this will work, because once passed the guard, you have to sign the chica in and if the person signing her in sees many poorly dressed chicas making it passed the guard, the guard will likely lose his job!

To me, this borders on harrassment or is a signal Presidente does not want you(us) there. If you can go to your room and bring down the clothes they should respect that. I wouldn't stay there.

I went to the Cafe to eat dinner at about 9 pm with two very nicely dressed ladies and the waiter said one of them had to keep her sweater on since he considered her shirt with bare shoulders too revealing.

She was dressed in a manner common with the local standards, (I have seen far more revealing attire in public areas such as local stores and offices), I do not see why she was treated in such a rude manner.

I understand the Presidfente may have any dress policy they wish, but I believe they are being discriminatory in their application.

Anyway, we decided to leave and eat at the cafe across the walkway.

I did not identify myself as a CRT member, so, I felt comfortable informing the waiter as we left that he was a Punta.

I enjoyed the Presidente on my first trip las year, and I understand they have many, many fans. (I used to be one also)

However, I will never patronize the Presidente again for any service.

And, if the waiter and the management of the Presidente feels my comment was uncalled for, then they may wish to consider whether their rude actions were uncalled for.

Actually, I purchased a nice glimmering tiara at a costume shop recently. I immediatly thought of this whole dress code garbage at the prez. So now I am going to put this li'l jewel on the head of every p4p "princess" that wants to accompany me back to prez or news cafe. If asked about the head-gear by anyone...I will gladly explain my reason & opinion. This shit has become too annoying to just tolerate. Can't just walk away without letting them know how I really feel .

From what I read here it sounds like the Presidente (have never stayed there) no longer wants to be a hooker hotel. Could it be time to take the hint rather than expecting the hookers to dress "like ladies"?

I said this so they don't go completely against us. If we are bluntly disrespectful by bringing poorly dressed chicas out in the open after we've covered them from entry, they will end this faster than otherwise.

I know. It's just that from what I've been reading.... They have gone from being clueless jerks to complete assholes.

On my last trip I stayed at the Presidente a few days and noticed the drastic change in cliente. Lots of eco-tourist, in large groups eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. No obvious mongers with dates were to be found. I did not have a problem bringing chicas up to my room. I don't recall what any of them were wearing.

My novia showed up one day wearing very tiny skin-tight shorts and they never mentioned anything to me about it. Her lower butt cheeks were exposed a bit. Don't know if it makes a differnce but the guards at the Presidente all know me and always make it a point to talk to me. Upon arrival i gots hugs from some of the guards. Also, on one occasion my novia showed up and they did not bother to stop to check her in at the desk. The guard smiled as we went up. who knows what's going on but i've noticed a change in cliente.

That's a good point. Most of the local chicas dress like they're trying to win a "Who's hot?" contest (which is one of the many great things about this wonderful country IMHO ). Seriously. If you spend time in local areas ... you'll see ladies at least as hot as those at the BM. Of course they probably have much different standards. But getting back on point... how can they say skimpy clothes are inappropriate when every local girl with a decent figure is wearing revealing clothes? They should re-evaluate what the goal is and be a little bit more thoughtful in how to achieve it.

But I stopped by the BM last trip. A chica walked in ... unbelievable. Beautiful face, sensuous eyes, long legs, smokin body, and this look on her face like she knew she was the hottest girl in the place. So we get back to Prez and ... you guessed it ... the guy at the desk is like... "Sorry sir, her dress is too short. She can't come in". So I said... "No problem I'll grab something for her to wear and be back in a minute". guy says "No. She can't change clothes in the hotel. She'd have to go outside".

Now... I'm a very very nice guy 99.9% of the time. But when the only thing standing between you and a girl who can only be characterized as "babe-a-licious" is this nonsense... well, I was more than a little upset. But it wasn't a big deal. Front desk guy had some compassion. We eventually compromised and everything turned out swell....

IMHO, Californicationdude used the most powerfull weapons at our disposal. He took his business elsewhere. In the long run, that is the only thing that will get the attention of the business people who are running the Cafe and the hotel.

There has been a significant increase in the number of chicas at the DR who carry a cover-up to put on over their sexy outfits so they can get into the Presidente. Most chicas know which side of their bread is to be buttered. Unless it is their first night,they understand that extra clothes are necessary to get into the hotel where many mongers stay. It is clear that the owners of the hotel do not want hookers in there.They have made a business decision to go with the eco-tourist crowd. They obviously feel that the two no longer mix well. Can the exprbitant "chica fee" be far away? My advice is to make the best of it while it is still available at all. It's going to get worse before it gets better.In the meantime spend some time looking for alternative places to stay that are more conducive to our lifestyle.

I haven't met a security guy yet that isn't on a power trip. Now, maybe we will stop hearing less about the holy shrine that is the Presidente to a lot. THERE IS NOTHING SPECIAL TO THIS HOTEL. Let the ecotourists have it.

The Presidente isnt special? I didnt have a working shower at SL for 2 days, and they wouldnt come unlock my safe.

For the money, the Presidente is the best hotel in downtown San Jose.

I concur with Thirdworld. Why put up with the bullshit? In 19 trips, I've never stayed at the Presidente. I just never saw a reason to. I've stayed at the Morazan many times, the Casa Conde, the Holiday Inn, the Herradura, the Corobici, and the BW Irazu many times. I've always enjoyed my stays at the Morazan. Probably the only reason I've never stayed at the SL is they were not open the last time I was in CR. And no, I'm not associated with the former poster on the 'old' board (Bada...), who used to constantly schill for the Morazan. Gentlemen...there are other choices. Also, as the walk from the DR to the Presidente seems to be getting more risky, what's the difference in another 10 minutes and a few dollars to get a taxi to another hotel?
Lastly, as another poster pointed out, perhaps two-thirds of the chicas in downtown San Jose are dressed rather provocatively/sexy. Hell, I always thought that was part of the allure of Latinas...they know how to dress
provocatively!

The Presidente is probably the best hotel in the Gulch. The Rail is the best spot in town to eat a meal and/or have a drink with friends while watching the parade of chicas walk past. The waitstaff is terrific, if not the best in town. I've never stayed at the famed SL but have walked over on occasions for a meal and drinks and did not find the waitstaff anywhere close to be as friendly and outgoing as the staff at the News Cafe.

If you want hot showers with lots of water pressure you can't beat the Presidente. Also the view from room 801 is incredible. In the past I always stayed in a studio overlooking Avenida Central and loved waking up in the morning to look out the windown down at all the beautiful chicas.

The security guards at the Presidente have never been a problem to me. They are always more than happy to assist me and my needs. NOw I know they are turning chicas away but I believe they are just following orders. As strict as they may be they have a job to do for the Hotel.

I don't get what the big deal is regarding chicas having to cover up. Maybe I've never had the problem because I don't usually pick up the chicas that look like straight up hooker, half naked and all. I pass on a lot of attractive chicas who walk around half exposed. Why pay for it when I"ve basically seen her naked already.

With the limited options in the Gulch I suggest you have the chica cover up before you attempt to bring her up. What's the big deal? The Presidente has a right to operate as they see fit for business. They give CRT bros a discounted rate, no chica fee and make some of the best roooms available to us for our pleasure.

On my last couple of trips rooms in the gulch where scarce let keep this in mind when bitching and moaning about the new dress code. Some of us need the rooms. I sure as heck do not want to give Sleep Inn any of my money. No one bitches about the $10 chica fee at HDR. That's on top of the price of the room, with no discount for CRT members and no free breakfast. And they have been known to ban CRT bros from the Blue Marlin for a few days.

Hotel Presidente still the best hotel in the gulch!!
