For those who are aware of the Amon Plaza this is truely a super deal. Nixxon is a very friendly person who goes out of his way to ensure a seamless experience. Free wireless, jacuzzi's, and breakfast. Quality room and staff. (new to the site, but stayed pretty much everywere in sjo).

Hola, I have been trying to get in touch with Nixon for the past week without any luck. I have stayed at Amon before and enjoyed it enough to book rooms their again for my trip the end of this month. Now that I am a member of this fine site I want to try and take advantage of the deal but can't get through on the number provided.
1) Has anyone had this problem since the june/july special was announce?
2) Can someone recommend an email address to try? (between the discount post and the paradiso website there are many email possibilities).
3) I have been reading that Nixon may be gone / out of town, is there another contact person?

I sent email reservation requests to both the Hotel Presidente and the Clarion Plaza Hotel, on June 26. I recieved replys from both hotels, via email, June 27, both were positive. From the Hotel Presidente, I received an email confirmation, from a Mr. William Vargas. From the Clarion Amon Plaza Hotel, I recieved an email confirmation from Nixon...Not Nixxon...Both replys were as adverised, both rates as advertised. My problem now is which hotel? Each hotel has its advantages. Presidente is close to "Ground Zero" (the Hotel Del Rey and Blue Marlin bar) as well as several other popular Gulch spots, such as casinos, the New York Bar, Monkey Bar etc. Unfortunately, this means you'll also be among beggars, muggers, druggers and motherfuggers.

The Clarion is a nice property, very much in line with biz class hotels around the world. It is excruciatingly close to Zona Blue MP and a short stroll from New Fantasy. The casino is fun; I visited both casinos (the Presidente's casino and the Clarion's), and I prefer the Clarion Amon Plaza's casino. I have not yet stayed at the Clarion, and I'm basing my report here on what others have said here on CRT.

One member I know had real problems at the Clarion. Nixon was very hard to find. There was a lot of confusion regarding the promised rate and what eventually showed up on the bill. Other than the experiences of that one member, everyone else with whom I've spoken who has stayed at the Amon Plaza really liked it. YMMV.

How will they know whether to bill us for the Chica or not when we show up with her? I show my CRT card, but how do they know whether I booked in the casino or with the hotel. Is there a little menu item on the screen that says no guest fee?

Trust me they know!! They even let the girls come to your room by alone, once you approve. I've stayed at the Amon Plaza 5 seperate times since june and have not encountered one problem. Nixon is a good person and will explain everything. I arrived at 630am last week, because I was rerouted on Taca and the front desk had NO problem giving me my room, even though I had to pay through the Casino (which was closed). The front desk told me to just get some sleep and pay later in the day. excellent service!!! The main question about the girls is that if the desk takes her passport and then has you fill out an agreed excess fee you need to remind them, but yes they do know you booked through the Casino.

where is the Amon Plaza in relation to the DR and Presidente? I'm having a hard time getting rooms for my upcoming trip at the DR which is my favorite. What's the chica fee at the Amon? Chhers.

The amon is located a few blocks from ZB in the Barrio Amon area. Just down from the Dunn Inn hotel. No chica fee with a 1 girl only policy. Not sure if this will change after Sept 5th. Buffet breakfast included in your room fee. With a chef at the buffet to cook your eggs as you like them.

Thanks for the reply. I really wanted to stay right in the Gulch. The presidente has some nights that are unavailable (Friday and Saturday go figure...) and the DR is also booked. What about that new hotel next to the DR? Is that Chica friendly? Also, is there a hotel opposite the Presidente? any ideas?
