I haven't been out this summer but I've run the Pacuare before at the end of the green season and also a few times in the spring. According to "The Rivers of Costa Rica" by Mayfield and Gallo (highly recommended for anyone interested in canoeing, kayaking or rafting rivers in CR) the Pacuare is runnable from June through Dec. "although flows not entirely reliable in June and late Dec." Since I ran it in May without any problem, I suspect that description is overly conservative. You should have no problem at all running it this summer. Yet another book I read said that June and October were the best months for running the Pacuare. Go figure. I wouldn't worry about it. If you're really worried about it and are an experienced rafter or kayaker consider going on the Reventazon (spanish for flatulence

) instead. Its a year round river and offers the only class V in the country at its Guayabo section.
