What's up all! Going to be flying solo for the last 7 days of my trip (April 24-30). Plan on hitting San Isidro, Jaco, then San Jose for a last big weekend blast. When I travel I don't like to be locked down with hotel reservations because I never know where I may end up. How big of problem will this approach be for me? For example, I will be a first timer to CR and would like to stay at the Del Ray the last few nights. But I'm coming from Jaco and will not know exactly when I will be arriving. Is there the possibility they may not have a room for me? How big of risk is this?

One last thing. When I was in Spain I would get an hour it was one and done. They would not let me hit them twice within the hour. Is this just the standard, or commonplace? If I get an hour in CR can I hit it more than once (if possible of course!)?

As far as the sex question, the key is to negotiate EVERYTHING up front. Time, type of service, number of times you get to "hit it", ect ect. have fun..

Alot of the big name places book up pretty fast. If I had to guess, I would say the Del Rey would be booked.

Im not sure of their hotel policy, but perhaps you could book then cancel as needed?

As far as getting a hotel period, I dont think it will be much of a problem. Between the Presidente, Castillo, SL, Del Rey, Morazon, Amon Plaza, plus ab out 10 other ones all within a 5 minute walk, I cant see them all being booked.

You might not get exactly what you want, but then again who knows.

As for the chicas. Its hit or miss. Ive had some who basically go at it until I made up some excuse to stop; I thought it was going to fall off or something. Then Ive had girls who do the one pop and are gone just like that.

Just negotiate everything up front. If its late at night, and alot of guys are there, obviously you will have a harder time getting exactly what you want because the market is in favor of the girls. Not always the case though.

Best thing is to tell them what you want up front. No rushing, 1 pop, 2 pops, bbbj. Let them know everything you want.

Now that is a very interesting post considering how there have numerous posts on other threads stating how the Presindente needs monger business as it is much more important to them than the eco-tourist/family types.

Maybe this case is an anomaly but here the HDR, the most famous monger hotel of all, has rooms while the Presidente is full. :?

ID,

WE, mongers all, rebuilt the Prez. They took the money, rehabed the place, did a little more marketing and now don't need us as much. Our days there are numbered.

I knew we were done for last year when I got on the Elevator with a Sweetie and 2 other riders were sporting Bibles.

Got nothin' against christians. I just pray at a different Alter. 8)

Not a problem. Plenty of other Venues.

Sorry I have to disagree. I first stayed at the Presidente in 1992. At that time San Jose attracted it's share of mongers but they certainly were not anywhere near the presence they are today.

The Presidente was renovating at that time and were still renovating for the next five years when I stayed there. They were during that time monger friendly but also had a large portion of their business supplied by family vacationers, eco-tourists, business travelers, etc. and they also contributed to the remodeling.

While mongering days at the Prez may indeed be numbered it is not because they took our money and remodeled it is because tourist traffic growth to Costa Rica has far outpaced hotel room construction. So it is now apparent that we need the Pres just as much as they need us.

ID,

I believe we are on the same point. You mention '92 with a 5 year rehab. I am talking about the "recent" rehab completed within the last year. I speak of monger #'s in the total. Not just this and other internet sites.

Post 9/11/01 until spring '04, I would say Mongers kept the Prez afloat and paid for alot of the new rehab. Rates were cheap and they always had a room.

My posting was my perception they the Prez was trying to move towards more mainstream tourist traffic.

I have often been wrong.

Maybe voicing our concerns to management will bring attention, I doubt it.

No problem. You can always crash on a bench in Parque Morazon or the Cardboard Motel. Mention Circus' name and you get the best box.

Realistically, make a reservation.
