Took about a month and a half in Houston. Got it before my trip in January. When I flew back to Houston, I got to bypass the huge line at customs. Took about 10 minutes to get through the whole system to the airport parking busses. It worked awesome. Saved me about an hour in line.

It is designed for frequent travelers, but there are no prerequisites. ANYONE can apply. If you're willing to pay $100 and go to the interview, YOU are eligible.

It's a great time-saver and peace-of-mind saver.

They will ask you when your next trip is. I told the CBP officer I was going to CR to see girls. He was frowning and saying "can I go with you?" :)

Lovely, so you threw some salt in the wound of the guy giving you permission to have this card? I LOVE IT!!! Next time kick him in the nuts and say, "Have a nice day!!!"

Nice SR

Anyone can apply and pay the $100, but that doesn't mean they will all get approved.

Global Entry is a risk-based approach to facilitate the entry of pre-approved U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the United States and citizens of certain other countries. Applicants may not qualify for participation in the Global Entry program if any of the following conditions are applicable:

They provide false or incomplete information on the application;
They have been convicted of any criminal offense or have pending criminal charges to include outstanding warrants;
They have been found in violation of any Customs, Immigration, or Agriculture regulations or laws in any country;
They are subjects of an investigation by any Federal, state, or local law enforcement agency;
They are inadmissible to the United States under Immigration regulation; or
They cannot satisfy CBP of their low-risk status or meet other program requirements.

They don't specify nor do they ask when. I believe they just ask about "crimes".

I listed a misdemeanor DUI from 20 years ago and I was approved almost immediately.

Just put it down at the appropriate point in the application.

Put application in early this morning, rec'd my conditional approval approximately four hours later. Have my interview set for Tue afternoon at O'Hare. Not sure if location has anything to do with it but they must have this one automated. Interviews are held at Terminal 5 Entry EC next to McDonalds. :)

I used the GE kiosk last night on my return into MIA. Took a matter of 2 minutes, slide your passport in, place your four fingers on the scanner, answer the declaration questions and you are on your way. I needlessly filled out my customs declaration on the plane since the receipt the machine popped out was all that was needed at the customs checkpoint.

Oh and my card is a NEXUS card I got in Canada can also be used at Global Entry kiosks! Well worth the application and fee in my opinion.

As an FYI, 24 years ago I had a DUI that was "dismissed" and 20 years ago one that was a misdemeanor. Nothing since.

At my review the agent told me that 2 misdemeanors render one INELIGIBLE for the GE card. I told her the site didn't say that and she said it did. Since the first was dismissed I was OK. I didn't bother to check about the "2 misdemeanors" since, when I got home a few hours later my approval was sitting there waiting for me. Supposedly get card in 7-10 days.

My fingerprint report didn't come back to her within the 15 minutes or so I was there so she told me to leave and if they checked out I'd get an e-mail from the system.

Special K;

Is there a separate line at Mia, the agent I had interviewing me said once you received your print out from the kiosk just to show to any agent and they would assist you? I've had some bad experiences just walking up to an agent and asking a question so any info on the process would be appreciated.....Mike

Srilm said " iah is the best. a dedicated agent right by the kiosks, takes your customs receipt if you're going through the "one stop" lane (unique to Houston and not part of the trusted traveler program). the whole immigration/customs process at iah can take less than a minute."

He is 100% right :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Went through that Monday night with carry on only, no checked bags, and maybe on the out side it took me 6-minutes from the time I slipped my passport in to the slot at the kiosks until I was loading my stuff into the security check in tub to get back into the airport. for my next flight :lol:

Walked out of the kiosks, took a left past the people at immigration lines, past the LINES at customs, past the special x-rays machine for the suspected ones, up the stairs , past some other stuff and then start to strip down for the security check. Iah was fast and slick :lol: :lol: Just like Srilm reported prior.

well worth the money

At Fort Lauderdale, in the ma n room, there is a separate line for immigration straight to the GE kiosk and through you go. If the line is unusually long though you'll have to "fight" your way through the people on the line until you get into the "main" room where you can walk right up to the kiosk.

You take the escalator down and then walk for a little bit into the baggage area. Customs is right outside the baggage area. When you first enter the baggage area there are glass doors (closed of course) directly TO the Customs agents but "regular" people cannot go through those doors and have to proceed towards the baggage carousels and get on line to go through Customs.

Last time I went through (didn't have GE then) , there was a sign at one of the glass doors marked "Global Entry" and a door was cracked open a bit. Guess you walk right through there and directly to the Customs agents.

Used it for the first time Monday. Came in at JFK, breezed thru in under 5 minutes. Had a suitcase so waited half-hour for it but no issues with GE.

Ok, this is giving me a headache.

I have a U.S. Passport and I have a U.S. "Passport Card," both issued by the U.S. Department of State.

The Global Entry card is issued by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. So, if I apply for a Global Entry card, this "Passport Card," has nothing to do with this "Global Entry Card," correct?

Once I receive a "Global Entry Card," I presume you're are still supposed to fly with your Passport, or if making border crossings, your "Passport Card," correct?

Next, question: Do you schedule an interview to get a Global Entry Card, or just show up at CBP at any time with your initial approval to conduct your interview? The way I read some of these posts, you had to have an appointment, others sounded like they conducted the interview by showing up at the office and waiting in line. Which is it?

Also, should you do that TSA "per-approval" program too, or does this Global Entry Card satisfy that requirement?

For making this "easier" it looks like you may need 3 documents: Passport, Global Entry Card, TSA Pre-Check, or does the Global Entry include the TSA Pre-Check as well? In other words it looks like three agencies are involved: The Department of State, the Customs and Border Protection and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Thanks in advance for your patience.
