Gentlemen,

Music volume levels at SL both night & day will be addressed with management and staff immediately.

Thank you for all the constructive input.

Again Thanks,

Bill

I was in SL Sunday, February 24th at around noon, to have lunch. I also saw Bill chatting with the gentleman you mention, so we must have been there at the same time.
I ordered the New York strip steak dinner. It came just as I had ordered, medium rare and the patatoe was great as well. Later when I met Lomo at HDR, I even commented on how fast the service was, and that my steak was mr as ordered. In fact, we discussed how service had improved.
If Lomo reads this, maybe he can comment on that discussion.

if Bill gave a reach around to each guest as he entered the hotel some people would complain about his technique. :)
i'm pretty sensitive to music/ambiance etc. and never really noticed the music volume being an issue but then again maybe i'm distracted most of the time.
if i'm dinged and its static in the morning that can be irritating. and if the music isn't what i want to hear i tend to remember i'm not the only one listening.
as far as the girls go imo that has as more to do w what an SL guy is willing to pay. these girls all know people staying there are going to offer 50/60 when the DR guys pay cien typically. not calling SL guys cheap charlies, ok some of them are, but if you are a hot puta looking to sell pu*sy do you go hit and run for 100 a couple of times or sit with a guy who wants to get to know you and offers 50?
agree the menu could use an update but like most said its bar food.

I guess it was our imagination then. we imagined the whole experience various times. we also ordered the steak and it was ok except it brought 6 pieces of french fries LOL

no worries I was not complaining because lead bonanza is right it's best to vote with your $$$

I deal mostly with outside investors and when they come down.. of course I have to bring cater to some of needs so i bring them downtown.

hopefully the new mona lisa can start picking up the slack downtown.

The service is definetly much faster. The new staff isn't as familiar with things I like as the old staff and that caused some problems because I had a problem explaining, but that takes while.

As to the food no one addressed the fact of how small the omelet and potatoes were. I mean, really: $7 for the tiniest mound of potatoes and tiniest omelet drenched in grease I've ever seen. I would not have commented on it here were it not so outrageous. If only I'd taken a photo, I'm pretty sure 95% of viewers would agree!

We'll have to agree to disagree. I don't know what you consider "small" or how much you usually eat, but for me 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links, a portion of potatoes, and an English muffin is plenty for breakfast.

Hi, Miamiheller, no problem with disagreements. I expected them and knew I was giving what was probably an unpopular opinion here. Yes I could have praised the Del Rey but that probably would not have been read by the owner of the SL. See my point?

Re the omelet (sometimes a small point becomes too big a thing in these threads but that's the nature of the beast so I'll continue):
What I ordered was not breakfast but an omelet for dinner. I was in the mood for an omelet and - to SL's credit - I thought "If anyone can make an omelet in this country (most places there cannot - it's like they deep fry them in oil or something. Yuk.), it is the SL!"

I ordered a separate omelet with potatoes as a side. Not sure if they were together or potatoes were a side, all I know is it had around a 3500c price tag. No bacon. No coffee. No sausage, no muffin.
What I got was literally and without exaggeration the smallest omelet I've ever gotten in my life, anywhere, accompanied by the smallest glob of potatoes I've ever gotten in my life. Literally the potatoes were served in a circle about the size of a silver dollar. The omelet was not only small it was super greasy - this after I had asked the waitress specifically if the omelets were super greasy and told "no". Would have thought maybe she could have said to chef, "Light on the oil please!"

Normally I would not comment on food but this was just so outrageous I had to comment on it. My god in the states here I can order an omelet for breakfast and get one that takes up half the plate and the potatoes taking up the other half - and delicious with Mexican salsa and veges inside etc for the same price!

As I sit drinking all of this in, both good and bad reviews about my home away from home, the one driving question is: Did you wave at Bill ? And if so did he wave back ? He can be a shifty character.
Regards, 911 Driver
P.S. My new hotel will be opening soon, no music, gallo pinto 2 days old, but no chica fees if they weigh over 160. www.conexcontainerSL.com, it's located in one of the worse barrios in SJO, but what do you want for Cien a night.

There is always going to be beef about a place...my complaint was during the playoffs Jan 8-16....that sunday of the playoffs I and CowboyTom went in the and drank a few...I never run a tab and Bill had already left as the night was winding down....I was about to leave and the barkeep then says I owe her for 2 drinks....for one thing I dont drink drinks nor did I run a tab nor did I buy any chica a drink or beer....CowboyTom witnessed the whole evening as I was paying as I go.... I looked for Bill and asked to talk to him but he had already left....CowboyTom insisted that I had payed and as being burned by the DR often I always NEVER,NEVER run a tab....It was that frail skinny blonde ,light haired no boobie barkeep....dont know her name but she kept insisting it was my tab....CowboyTOM was there and he can vouch for that night....The skinny cunt had that Beautiful large breasted goddess make me pay...reason I paid is because I didnt want to be blacklisted next time I go in there....and that fact that the big breasted barkeep is georgous and sweet to me....other than that I wouldnt have done it....Nonetheless I didnt go back there the rest of the trip. I have no desire to go back to CR anytime soon and that trip is def my last time....if it isnt the bartenders, its the cabbies, etc... it is what it is....

Been going to Mexico every weekend since Jan and I love the place....great food , $1.00 Coronas, $50.00 chicas....and honest cabbies....yes I did say cabbies....I left my Oakely sunglasses in the cab by accident and the cabbie came back a hour later looking for me to return them....imagine that....

I agree about the music being way too loud.
You struggle to have a convo with wingman or a chica

Bill is a class gentleman who treats his customers well and does try to fix problems and to keep a personal hand in. I think most would agree on that score.

Aside from events there's generally no need to have loud music. The main focus of the place is conversation, and so blaring music isn't needed. Having said that, I typically don't find the music to be too loud there, and I too hate having disco level volume when there's only 3 people in the place or if there's no dancing. It seems pointless to me. I have experienced that at the SL, but not usually.

The food at the SL is decent, but nothing special. I never feel cheated with the portions I receive. With that being said, although I find the drink prices reasonable I find the food prices extremely high for the type of food you're getting. I know ths is becoming a frequent comment, but honestly, we're not there for the food, so you live with it or you eat elsewhere. I eat elsewhere, as do my compadres, although I occasionally have breakfast there.

Overall, the service has been steadily improving over the years, and the staff are usally great. It's overall a great place to stay, and it has a fun and comfortable vibe to it. I'm pleased to support Bill with my business, and if he brings food prices back into line then I'd eat there more too. lol.

I don't get it. I really don't understand the issue here fellas. If SL was the only venue in town, then alright; turn down the music, insist on only hot chicks coming through the doors and make sure the damn omelets are made to perfection. Thing is, SL isn't the only place a guy can let loose. Plenty of other places in the gulch and no one particular venue is a "one size fits all." Since most can agree on that why change what isn't broke?

Amistad has an obnoxious train in the morning that won't quit. I'm sure they'd love to know your concern but wouldn't it be better if you stayed somewhere else? It strikes me as a bit passive aggressive to come on the forum and have an issue with the music when you could've just gone to the dj or manager on duty and asked him to turn it down a bit, especially if they're not that many people left hanging around. How about sending back that omelet and asking the guy in the back to lay off the grease and kick down on more of the potatoes? I guess I'm a different kind of man. :|

To have Bill come on here and say he's gonna seriously consider turning down the music because a couple of guys want to talk to their chicas or buddies is over the top dumb. Truly a damn shame. It's a frigg'in sports bar with hotel rooms attached for crying out loud. It's got a dozen or so big screen TV's, a pool table, and a bar the size of Rhode Island. Damn shame.

F-it. I ain't mad. When I'm on vacation, I pick my battles and sorry to say most of my gripes ain't worth fighting over. When I check into SL I know what to expect. Same with HLH, HDR or anyplace else. We ask new guys to read the archives and read, read and read some more. At what point does a veteran of the game not realize that a sports bar with hotel rooms gets rowdy most if not all the time? If I stay at Motel6 in the ghetto and I hear gunfire a block away should I be surprised?

You fine gentlemen may disagree. That's why we're here after all. In the nature of disagreement might I add that I've never had a problem pulling from SL. My best bangs have been from SL. I'll defend SL chicas from anyone. That's my spot and no I don't pay cien.

Hells-Bells. I'm headed to Sosua in a couple of months because the music IS loud, the party IS jump'in, the drinks ARE cold and the women ARE hot(and cheap  )
