I have not flown AA for about 5 years since they completely screwed up one of my trips. Well...I got a good price and a FLL departure so I bought a ticket for this trip. FLL to SJO was uneventful but SJO to FLL did not happen at all. They cancelled the flight to FLL and put me on the next flight to MIA. That flight was cancelled as well and now as I sit in the SJO airport waiting for yet another attempt at MIA I have made the decision that I will NEVER use this shit airline for SJO travel again.

All of that aside , I had a great trip as usual and I will be back in Feb on TACA

DonG-
gotta agree with you--after 10+ flights on AA thru MIA, at least 50 % ended up with problems. I have seen many people bitch about Spirit, but after 3 trips with them, they are batting 100 % for NO problems. Continental, Delta, and US Air are still my favorites--if the prices are not out of the ballpark.
Bottom line for me, I probably will never fly AA again

I'm flying TACA for my first trip to CR. The price is what hooked me, plus they actually provide you with meal and snacks included in the price. Beats paying seven dollars for a chicken salad sandwich on AA with a much higher airfare.

That sucks. It's too bad because a few months ago I gave kudos to AA for adjusting a prior purchased ticket down to $205 out of MIA. I exclussively use AA and so far, so good. Although when what happens to you happens to me, I'll be equally as pissed.

Good luck with the luggage.

I have a feeling that DG would have weathered this much better if Bar Idem had an annex at Juan Santamaria and AA gave him some vouchers to go and relax. Right now it is 1 degree above zero here in the Frozen Tundra and all my trips to CR take at least that many hours. DG, may I suggest that you book your next trip right away and you will feel much better. Pura Vulva

Also, often delays of this type occur when the privious nights' flight arrives late. Federal law requires that flight crews have a set number of hours off duty, before they can go on duty again.

DG,
Sorry to hear about your situation with AA. I fly AA to CR almost monthly, and I’ve never had anything close to that happen to me. But I know that they’re certainly capable of it. I am flying Miami - SJO in 6 days, and I’m hoping for an un-eventful flight. I’ve always had good luck flying with AA, and I hope that continues.

But since we’re talking about problems with AA, I thought I’d throw this out there. This morning I found out about an AA policy change, and it really sucks, especially if you’re an AA frequent flyer:
In the past, if you booked a round trip ticket with AA - and then the price on that itinerary dropped – normally they would always credit you for the difference in price. I know of several CRT members who had taken advantage of this policy in the past. Personally, I’ve gotten credits on cheaper flights numerous times over the past several years.

Well…. things have changed, and they’ve implemented new guidelines to their policy. If you book your flights (and the price drops at a later date) they will ONLY refund you the difference in price, up and above the “ticket change fee” (which usually is around $100.) In other words, if you book a round trip ticket for $400, and then (at a later date) you see it advertised for $270, they’ll only refund you $30, which is the price difference (after the change fee is applied). So basically, if the price on your flight drops $100 or less, you’re out of luck with a refund! And if the price drops more than $100, you have to eat the 1st $100, and you’re entitled to the balance of the difference. But you’d have to completely re-book your itinerary.

On Tuesday (JUST TWO DAYS AGO) I booked another flight to CR. I am flying Miami to Liberia (Daniel Obuber Quiros Airport - Guanacaste) at the end of February. I have a real estate closing, so I am flying directly into Liberia Airport. This morning, just for the hell of it, I checked the flight prices, and they’d dropped $65 over the past couple days. Naturally, I called AA for my credit. This is where the woman explained the new policy to me.

Anyone want to pool our money and buy a private jet ?!?

I was AA platinum member now Im boycotting them not enough benefits for 6 being elite on them I like continental better. Screw AA their upgrade policy sucks to you have to use cerficates and all the reps dont know crap about them.
Plus I got stranded at the airport by them for 6 hours with no food or comp screw those sons of bitches and to boot that old lady with the glasses that serves first class and elite members in SJO airport is a real bitch and extremely stupid and inept. They give her the first class line because she is so slow and Inept. I hate AA in SJO related flights especially. I hope AA goes bankrupt I really hate those fuuucckers especially the retards they hire in the SJO airport, inept and arrogant all in one package..... BAD COMBO.
I suggest you email AA on how pathetic their SJO employees are. 9 months ago I told one of them off and the faggot with his DG heavy framed fag glasses had the balls to give me his card. Well I mailed his card to headquarters with a nasty letter, well he doesnt work AA in SJO anymore I guess he thought I wouldnt call his fagggot arse bluff.
Email as many execs in Dallas as you can how atrocious the SJO service is it will work get these lazy fuuuuckers FIRED. Especially that old bitch that works the first class ticket counter she is an absolute disaster. I waited 35 minutes for her to get a ticket printed she is truly an arse felch that needs to be removed.
When you email them make sure that you write a calm email that denotes a calm mind that is just very dissapointed with atrocious service on a calm day in the airport that had no problems except this one agent also note that you have been an elite member for ten years. Gets those fuuuckers fired its the only way to improve service its the only thing that gets through the meta steel plates they all have wedged in their brains and rectum...oh same thing that was redundant sorry.

not to mention that TACA has new planes and AA has pre WW2 buckets of bolts. when was the last time you saw planes with the tvs hanging in the center aisle? and the interior plastic in the plane is now that aged yellow.
not exactly a confidence builder. TACA for me.

That true. The one time I flew AA I was kinda worried about those planes. I read the average age of their planes is like 20 years. That's the average, so every new plane they get brings the 40 year old planes much closer to the average.

DAMMNNNN...

When El Silencioso told me DG was also at the airport going home yesterday I thought how good it must be to be so close.
