No special tips on traveling solo other than keep your wits about you. All the places you plan to be you'll make some connections to trade notes and hang out with.
I've done most all my international trips solo and I actually prefer it. I've met up with friends a couple times and that was cool too. Yes, there is some security to being in a wolfpack... but also potential drama if you wind up babysitting.
You have the basics figured out and are doing a bit of homework. You'll have a blast.

+1 HD.... IMO, keeping your wits about you is critical when traveling solo. Like others have pointed out before, don't drink to the point where you are shitfaced and can't make quick, reasonable, & rational decisions. Usually when traveling solo, you're watching your own six and being stumbling drunk is generally not conducive to your well-being. Ever notice how much a belligerent drunk stands out in the crowd??? Now couple that with being solo and you have a recipe for failure and a probable series of unfortunate incidents. Know your limits!
Also, while you're at SL, you will most certainly see other mongers/CRT members sitting at the bar area enjoying themselves. Don't be afraid to chat with these guys, as most of them are friendly and will often offer very good advice. Buy them them a beer to show your gratitude.
Finally, in all situations, trust your gut... if it doesn't feel right, don't do it. Your 'spidey senses' are there for a reason. I served 8 years USMC with 2 tours in OEF-A, and my gut feeling has kept me alive more than once. Trust your gut, it WILL NOT steer you wrong.
Best of Luck... I hope you have lots of fun and thoroughly enjoy yourself.
