So what's the proper time frame, then? Just so I know. Two trips? Five trips? Ten?

How much time does one have to spend in CR before they're given the golden stick of speech and allowed to have an opinion?

I don't give a shit if they've gone just once or not at all. If someone bothers to spend the time writing trip reports and commenting on threads and asking questions in order to incite an in-depth conversation which will provide insight to all others who read the posts, good on 'em.

'Cause no one else who has gone twice, five, ten times gives half of his time to this forum to help newbies get their feet wet.

And on a side note, if you bother to read any of his 216 posts, you'd see that a majority of them are inquisitive, not advisory.

All of you should sit down and shut up for once. 'Cause you're not benefiting this board anymore.

That went right over your head didn't it El Camino...just like the Icarus comment.. your hair didn't even get messed up did it?

elcamino,

Thank you for proving my point exactly!

A new member making a comment like this??? Strike that. NOT EVEN A MEMBER, simply a "visitor" to this site, making a comment like this? Seriously??? But you, and BashfulDwarf and other newbies still wonder why some of the more experienced members don't post anymore?????

I think this concludes our object lesson for the day.....

Bashfuldwarf,

Next time you need a question answered, and no one helps you... well you can thank guys like this for the lack of helpful info on the board as of late!

Please post but don't be a pompous douche who thinks they know everything after spending a few days in Costa Rica. If you come off as genuine the posters here will go out of their way to help you; if not..fly Icarus fly...

As this was addressed to me indirectly, I'll say that at no time have I ever given the suggestion that I know everything about CR. This is an exaggeration, and a large one at that.
I made a critical error in advising the poster to "Relax". And then I uttered one of the dumbest phrases on the board: "You're safe in Costa Rica".
I got called out on it (albeit childishly) but it was deserved. I entered a retraction and admitted I was not qualified to make such a statement.
And then I challenged a long standing member's advice to "be careful", to "use common sense and street smarts", made to a newbie who was asking how to avoid a certain pitfall.
I used sarcasm to bite back. And I got bitten in return.
I have been told to shut up at least 5 times in this thread alone.
And now I am accused of posting to much, asking too many questions, and having a secret agenda.
Wow! What a week.
I am sorry to have bored you with my questions. I had hoped to start up meaningful threads that newbies could get something out of. I know you guys keep telling us to "read and study", but the board is so clogged with pointless threads, that going back and back into the older threads gets dizzying. The search system is not very friendly. That is why newbies keep asking the same questions cyclically.
They need new content to consume, even if it is some rehash. It's fresh to them.
I still have many questions about Costa Rica. I'm surprised that you guys find that strange. But I won't ask them here anymore; at least not in the forums. And I'll stop posting to your threads as well. With less than 7 days on the ground, I really don't have anything to add that hasn't already been said.
Thanks.

This is one "visitor" who just lost all respect for this board.
Getting called a "pompous douche" simply for stating his opinion (and repeating several times that it merely was his opinion) is no way to be treated in this "brotherhood".
I don't care how much he f*cked up or pissed you off.
You turned a simple post about advice on how to avoid the und*rage scene into a pissing contest about who's allowed to post and who's advice is worth a d*mn.
Speaking strictly for myself, I'll leave this forum to you and you alone. You clearly know all there is to know and are too busy sitting on your wealth of knowledge and annoyed by the repetitive and boring newbie questions to bother posting anymore.
I'll use my common sense and street smarts and figure it all out on my own.

I hate to interject into what appears to be a mildly toxic thread but I'm afraid I can't find much wrong with Bashful's advice. If you're in a hotel that cedula checks the girl and she looks over 18 there is no need to go the extra mile and ask for her cedula yourself. You can card her if she appears to be under 18 (she will likely produce the cedula because she is probably used to it, if she does not it is best to take a pass).

And no, this isn't a major issue in CR especially in the HDR or of course any location/service above the HDR level. Some of these low-end MPs have been raided and caught with 1-2 und***ge chicas though. But let's not make it sound like every 3rd chica in the HDR is an "und***ge police officer" just waiting for you to begin a conversation so her entire precinct can jump you right there from their headquarters under the HDR bar.

I don't know why everyone talks about this stuff like this is exlusive to CR. It's the same there or if you went to Timbuktu! The rule of thumb is If she looks too young, pass... even if she is actually 18,19 or 20. I find it kind of weird why some of you older gents go after girls so young (18-21). It's actually kind of disturbing but to each is own.

The places on the beaten path mentioned on this board and others like it.. you should feel safe about. If there are any doubts, it would have been pointed out my other members long ago. If it makes you feel better to card, then do it. Don't be surprised if you meet resistance from those working in the massage parlor type places though. The establishment doesn't need to card everyday, just when they start working because it's the same girls everyday.

About the und***ge chica. I've heard cases like this in every country I been too. Shit happens. Don't dwell on it and move on. Many girls with makeup can look older than they really are. Keep in mind, the age of consent is not 18 in every country. It can be 16 or younger. So although they might not be doing anything wrong, you are. All that matters legally is the age of consent in your home country... which is 18 for the US.

Back to the op. This is a hobby with risks. There are no 100% whether it comes to health or age. All you can do is minimize your risks. Have a fun trip and be safe!

good point High
so hopefully now we can live and let live. i think BD's last post is sincere and the guy realizes he made an advice mistake. fubar. like no one here has.
the guy gave us some of the most colorful TR's in the last five years and probably deserves to not be trampled underfoot imo. he belongs here as much as any one of the misfits.

Be careful, this is a strict-liability offense which means that you are guilty, even if you didn't intend to be with a minor or she lied/fooled/tricked you. Better pass if unsure.

Still, for a guy sticking to well known places, his chances of being with an und***ge girl are pretty slim - to the Op - the instances are really not that frequent regarding und***ge, however that said, the burden is on you and regardless of the reason(s), should you be caught with someone under 18, the penalties severe.

Again, this would not be something I would put at the top of my "worries" list - in many trips (like well over 40) I've never encountered what you are concerned about, not to say it never happens, nor some assholes seeking it out
