Gentlemen,
There has been no such incidents at Sportsmens Lodge. I am not quite sure why Sportsmens was even mentioned here in this post, but we are concerned that if conditions do not become more safe at DR that the Municipalidad of San Jose will clamp down to the extent of challenging their existence and to their right to have a permit to operate.
Bar fights can happen when there is a large amount of alcohol consumed, however we do not feel that closing DR would be a positive thing to happen in the gulch. Del Rey must get a better handle on the type of customers entering the establishment. IMHO
Bill,
Was not implying that the SL had any incidents, it was mentioned because the "night shift" chica population numbers seemed down, implying that perhaps the recent violence in the gulch is keeping chicas home in general. If anything I would figure the DR incidents would be driving gringo business over to SL where I'd feel safer.
The big fight did not involve DR customers inside, it started in the street and burst thru the door knocking over guys drinking in the back bar, spilling over back into the street and back inside multiple times.. the shooting was also non del rey customers and the Policia were on the block doing random cop searches and stop and frisks. The DR area is definitely attracting more of the wrong element, customers or not
Im wondering what more could be done by the city to curb the violence, doesnt seem like the DR has much power here
